I was initially sceptical about all of this. Elis Short is living proof that a wealthy owner is not a guarantee of success

What I like is that Stu Donald is going to continue to run the club on a day-to-day basis. He's got us turned around and pointing in the right direction (which is some achievement), so he should continue the great work with a few quid to chuck at his plans now

Of course there is no guarantee of success but I can not see how this is anything other than a massive achievement for the club. Fine work by Methven and Donald. Yes, the FFP rules mean that we can not just go bonkers like the big clubs a few years ago but how many clubs below say Tottenham would not want to be in the position of being taken over by a few billionaires. I am glad I support Sunderland just for the continuous roller coaster ride they take you on. We don't have a boring year, ever.

From reading up about them, they seem like a safe set of hands. Doesn't sound like they'll be doing anything daft or jeopardising the club. Can't see how anyone can be anything but excited

Agreed. Seems surreal in a way. It’s certainly looking like it’s happening, indeed it looks like it’s happened and is just awaiting the PR.

Its mad given that we are stuck in league 1 with an appropriate squad. To think of what we may be able to achieve with a successful, rich owner(s) seems a million miles away.

    Doesn’t it.

Derby have shown a legal, legitimate loophole to circumnavigate FFP though, selling the SOL to a holding company.

Whether they do it or not will remain to be seen, if they do it will piss a lot of folk off but we won’t give a single ****.

I'm going to hold you to that Monty.

On another note, I've read that there is a minor holdup on the EFL side of things that may delay today's announcement until next week.

When this deal is all done and as has been said on here a way of generating cash is to sell the clubs name etc there is an article on the BBC website saying the EFL are scrutinizing the sale of Villas ground last season and they are looking to have an independent valuations done on other grounds at Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading.
Not saying these clubs have done anything wrong but we will have to ensure its all above board if we go down that route to raise revenue.
Seems the likes of Man City have got away with one and the authorities are trying to ensure it doesn't happen again.
