There’s no real democracy in the UK, for example. Any government will be elected by a minority of the voters, but then have control over all decisions affecting the population.

You have control every 4 years to take all their seats, should you decide to get over petty differences and unite over the 98% of things you agree on

Don't blame politics for that, blame the media who keep you at each other's throats over the 2% of things

yeah we're best buds since today. :D

Am I serious? or am I just shedding light on ignorance? who knows :bandit:
I don't know but whatever you and anyone else has posted on this thread (I skim read some of it), guaranteed that it's been posted ad nauseum on various politics threads over the past 18 months. I'm only here to collect the coupons and watch Saxton have his meltdowns.

Are we getting it? If you wanted to get a regulation\policy passed that fits your country, you need the support of 10s of millions of people from other countries, to pass a law for the UK :D

Democratic? lmfao
But my point is that it is necessary for some laws to protect the world not just to be best for our country. There's no chance of that being achieved by a world government directly accountable to the people. But delegating some power upwards to bodies like the EU and the UN is better than nothing.

yep, bent bananas and how long my coffee pot hotplate stays on are surely a threat to the world.
The Irish taking peat from bogs, something they have been doing for generations, a threat to the world

Do you have any idea how many regulations there are?

Do you realise that some of the regulations cannot be met by businesses of a certain size? Killing competition.

Doesn't matter how long a practice has been going on - if you're destroying habitats then you should probably stop.

In the past, the EU demanded that referenda held in different countries, like Ireland in 2001 and Denmark in 1992, should be canceled and another referendum be held simply because the EU didn't like the result.

On other occasions, referenda that were held in France and Holland in 2005, the results of which went against the EU ratifying the Lisbon treaty, were completely ignored by the EU and the treaty was implemented anyway.

The difference between the EU and UK is that we do not ignore the results of national votes. To compare the UK and EU as equally (un)democratic is just absurd.

Remoaners should consider this for all their pathological altruism.

They are the first to insult
The first to get annoyed
The first to snap and rant
The first to cry racist
The first to use feels as arguments

I could go on, but I think there is a character limit on here :bandit:

It's being over exploited and it's as simple as that really.

Some info here if you're arsed http://www.ipcc.ie/a-to-z-peatlands/peatland-action-plan/habitat-loss-of-peatlands/

From your link
"According to the State of the Irish Environment (2004) published by the Environmental Protection Agency, in the ten year period between 1990 and 2000, 76,000ha of peatland had changed from wetland habitat to a transitional woodland / scrub habitat which represents 6.5% of the original area of peatland in Ireland."

Locals have been using the peat for hundred of years, so they did not cause that big increase

"Other uses of peatlands cause degradation of sites such as dumping, burning, quarrying, wind farm installations, tourism impacts (trampling) and infrastructure developments including roads, electricity pylons, telephone masts and gas pipelines."

None of these things are caused by locals.

These are matters for the Irish government not the EU or UN

It makes little difference as the same system prevails in any subsequent election. You just replace one minority Gvt with another.

Like the Fail and Excess who regularly post things in BIG CAPITAL LETTERS that are designed to infuriate the plebs?

I find it amusing that you select some publications when every one of them use headlines in such a manner
