That's true, but it doesn't bury the question. The correct informed answer was: I believe he's said that there is no way he is leaving Southampton before the end of his contract, which has one and half seasons to run.

Which would put the question to bed for at least a couple of weeks.

Yet again, you and I know more about the current situation than they do.

It was such a stupid time to ask the question. It was as if the presenter had had his head in the ground for 6 weeks, missed Koeman saying " I am not taking the Dutch job" and just trying to stir ****.

Odds for managerial sack race. Klopp safest...mainly because he is new I would have thought...very unlikely to be sacked, but one terrible season and who knows next season. Mourinho favourite by a mile. Ron is joint 7th (with several others)....am trying to imagine a season so bad that Ron gets sacked!!!

Ranieri and Bilic are way more likely than Koeman to go first imo. As are Poch and Garde. Precisely the kind of clubs who make snap decisions after a bad run of games, bar maybe Leicester, where I just think Ranieri is coasting on Pearson's set-up. An injury to Vardy and/or Mahrez and can see them struggling after Christmas. I suppose their club's respective fans would think otherwise, though.

Blog suggesting where we should be active in January. He started by saying he was tempted to say nothing....he should have stopped there and maintained his credibility. Stekelenberg is apparently 'not awful'....good as that eh? And Fraser Forster isn't good enough for us either....he must think we are Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Nah, apparently Bournemouth are the new Barcelona... <whistle>

I know this is very, very minor but they couldn't even be bothered to look for a photo of RK in Saints kit!!

Tbh, I don't quite know what is so wrong with those observations. Statistically, the author may be correct. The opinion of our goalkeepers is one I can understand and yet disagree with too. The author also has a dubious outlook on both JWP and JayRod getting better for various reasons. I can understand that too, though I disagree about JWP. My particular jury on JayRod is still out at the moment, so although I'm not condemning him, I understand why someone would think that way. The rest the writer seems happy with, whilst making the observation that all teams can be improved.

I've read a lot worse uninformed twaddle from esteemed pundits.

I think he's judged Stek on a points system....probably decided that a 6.2 (or whatever) must be miles worse than 6.4. I prefer Forster, but have no problem with Maarten. Our problem is that Stek is a back up, so when he's out (as he was recently), we have a problem. However, can't see us getting another keeper in....we were lucky to get a loanee as good as we did. And Forster is well worthy of SFC.

I'm hoping JRod comes good and I can't see anyone falling over themselves to sign him without him proving himself fit, so that's a no no.

Not sure we need another centre back, we seem awash with them at the moment especially if you include the youngsters out on loan. Depending on when Gardos is fit we have 5 seniors plus the youngsters. Can't we bring through one of the academy players?

But now we are a truly big side we want to vacuum up players like our rivals City. <laugh> He's described as flexible and able to play RB...Koeman does like to play players out of position. He is also only 20, so part of the next generation. Be great if we had a real gem coming through the Academy, but (joking aside) a team vying for top 4-6 has higher standards and we are sadly less likely to take a risk. Going to be tougher for Academy lads from now on.

I really hope we haven't become too scared to risk a youngster now and then. How will we ever know if they are any good if we don't give them a go? We're unlikely to get top 4 and top 6 will be hard so why not risk it? We don't even seem to want to risk Harry Reed as a sub and he didn't look out of his depth last season.

I think Harry Reed looked good and not out of place at all....would have liked him to get more chances, but I think Koeman gives a nod towards bringing youngsters through, but it isn't really in his DNA....winning is. Youngsters will get chances, but they will have to be exceptional now.

Ugly Inside suggesting we are interesting in Denayer who was VvD's partner at Celtic (on loan from Man City and currently playing in Turkey).

Must admit that when I was watching videos of VvD playing for Celtic, this other bloke [Denayer] took my eye and I wondered whether Saints had an interest in him. Then I found he was part of Man City and that he was playing everywhere on-loan. Could be one for the future, though ManC might have an interested say in that.
