Those were the days, a centre forward who scored 37 league goals in his first season for Saints , 43 in all competitions. Forty ****in' three!

This surprised me because I only remember his headers.
"He actually scored 43 Southampton goals in all competitions in 1966-67 and, while he was famed for his aerial presence, 23 of his league strikes came via his boots."

Do you remember his caricatures of Saints players that were printed in the Daily Echo?

That ages you similar to me and I think I recollect that came from Brock, as did I. Did we know eachother?

I'm not old enough but Charlie Wayman, scored 73 goals in 100 games, he got injured in Division Two late 1940s and due to this and no adequate cover Saints didn't go up even though they were odds on and only won one game out of their remaining 6 or so games - this after Wayman scored the winner past their nearest rivals Spurs to win the game 1-0 too.

When he went to Preston North End in 1950 he ended up their top scorer in his first season (and the next three) and they went straight up as champions - a very Saintsy type thing.

Meghoma and Dibling both played yesterday in England u17's Euros 4-1 win over Netherlands.

Dibling playing on the left-wing for England, and looking good. I thought he was a CM for our u18s, but great if he is versatile.

Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly is going to be some player in a couple of years.

I guess this is topical given the exploits of a certain flaxen haired viking this season.

What surprised me was just how many players that had played for Saints were on the list, from Ted Drake and Charlie Wayman right up to Sadio Mane.
Go on, count them all...:)

I can't find this mentioned anywhere else but this seems to have passed by unnoticed.

Oriol Romeu, who up until the Girona FC match against Real Sociedad on 13th May had been given no red cards during his career (currently 328 appearances, 24393 minutes on the pitch, 84 bookings), has finally been sent off. The 13th of May is interestingly the day when Saints' relegation was confirmed. It was thought that when Oriol heard the news he was so upset that he kicked a Sociedad player over the stands.

Romeu off at 86 minutes

Some familiar faces in the match. David Silva for Sociedad and besides Oriol is ex Saints goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga for Girona.

Phil Boyer 1979/80 - Don't know who's the face in the photo, but it ain't Phil Boyer?
