The Turkish league is basically the scene from Toy Story with all of the cast off, broken toys, and every team has their own flavour. You want to watch ex-stars who are in their upper 30s and barely have any mobility left? Become a Galatasaray fan and cheer on the desiccated husks of Dries Mertens, Juan Mata, and Bafetimbi Gomis. Want to watch some still-capable ex-PL players who are more or less in their prime but not good enough for their former level? Fenerbahce's your club, with Enner Valencia, Michy Batshuayi, Josh King and company. And if for some reason you want to watch some guys who were never all that good, and really don't appear to be arsed anymore? Back Besiktas, with Dele Alli, Nathan Redmond, Cenk Tosun, Rachid Ghezzal and friends. Something for everyone!
What a night that was. Particular highlight was singing "just a **** Rickie Lambert" at MLT after he put a pen wide in the HT shootout.
I see Jake Hesketh has ben released by Eastleigh. He is still only 27 it's a shame his career went down hill.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has received a two-match ban for comments he made about referee Paul Tierney after his side's 4-3 victory over Tottenham in April. It means the German will miss Sunday's match against Aston Villa at Anfield. The second game is suspended until the end of the 2023-24 season, meaning Klopp will not miss the final game of this campaign against Southampton. Odd, not that it matters.
Yeah that is odd. I initially thought maybe because we are already down it's not punishing him, so he misses the first game next season which will be more meaningful. But Liverpool's result is meaningful to them so surely Newcastle, Man Utd and Brighton will want Liverpool disadvantaged? Obviously depends what happens between now and the last match but potentially this is relevant. Surely the point of a ban is the same as a player ban, a punishment that weakens the team. You wouldn't have a player serve part of his ban and then coke back for the last game of the season and then resume the ban next season so why the manager?
They are trying to send out a strong message about the treatment of referees. The strong message being… treat them however you like!
Also doesn't Klopp have previous with this type of abuse or was it just some of his other touchline behaviour? Two matches is a joke.
https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23529154.vote-daily-echo-southampton-player-year/ Lol your chance to vote for Southampton player of the season. I’m voting for Nathan Tella.
Yeah they have been the best two for me this year, possibly Perraud as well. JWP will probably win it because Saints fans
