Every site lists him as 5’9 that I’ve seen. It did surprise me when I saw it as he definitely seems to play a lot bigger if you know what I mean. 5’9 is essentially a little person
5’9” is the average height of an adult male in England, and Scotland for that matter.

Also, people's perspectives of 5'9" tend to be skewed by the fact that every human male from 5'4" through 5'9" claims to be 5'10". I went years being told that there was no way I'm 5'10"; I must be 6'0", minimum. Had to get officially measured at the doctor's office, and nope: 5'9.75".

Would explain a small part of my dating app dilemmas (along with them being trash in general). I guess writing that you are 5’6” means women are going to assume I’m actually 5’2” or something because every 5’9” guy says they are 6ft (it seems)

Pretty much. To this day, my driver's license says that I'm 5'11", because I happened to get it renewed (when they first added height to licenses here) with my girlfriend present, and she insisted that I was at least three inches taller than her ex, who was 5'9". 5'11" was the compromise position because I was fairly sure I wasn't 6'0".

I was at least three inches taller than him, but that's because he was 5'6".

So he must have told her he was 5’9” and she had no perception of what that was. So maybe it isn’t quite all over for the majority of men given the amount of women that write “6ft and above only” on dating profiles. It would also explain chatterings I see online about how that has been subject to inflation as well - because it turns out they think a 6’ guy is 6’3” due to men seemingly inflating their height

There is another measurement that this often seem
to happen with as well (one less suitable for polite discussion and less commonly shared)

Fair play, very supportive of your girlfriend to go round in public telling people that you’re a few inches bigger than her ex.

So essentially I’ve been getting this all wrong. I’m exactly 6ft, but I should have been saying I’m 6’2?

Nope. The beauty of being one of the 'round up' heights is that there's way more fun to be had from listening to someone demonstrably shorter than you say that they are 6'0", and then looking perplexed and saying "huh, they took my measurements at the doctor's last week, and I'm 6'0" exactly".

And then just keep making eye contact with them until they never speak to you again.

I do the opposite. I used to get measured at least once a year up til about 27 so I know exactly how tall I am. I tell people who are shorter than me I’m 5’8 when I know I’m just over 6”. They then look at themselves and are like **** I must be 5’5.
