That's cheap for a player of his quality. I reckon he'll double that salary in the next couple of years though, whether here or elsewhere.

Our most prominent players sit on the heavy side of £30k p/w, I'd say from ballpark figures posted around.

That would be Lovren, Schneiderlin, Wanyama, Gaston, Lallana, Lambert.

Possibly Boruc too.

That article suggests Cortese upped our offer. That won't do his image as a tight-fisted scourge of agents any good.

I don't think that's true, considering our original offer was deemed acceptable by Celtic.

Sh200m is £15k so I wouldn't lose any sleep over that.

Edit: oops, decimal point in the wrong place. It's actually £1.5m. Not sure I believe that to be honest.

The confusing thing is that article suggests we upped our offer to Celtic by £1.5m from £10.5m to £12m, when all the noise and word from Lennon himself was that our bid to Celtic was very satisfactory and had been agreed with the only issue personal terms.

I'm personally guessing the numbers in that article are pure guesswork and invention, or there's been some miscommunication somewhere.

The English in the article isn't great - it says we upped our offer to the club to reach an agreement with the player and his representatives, which doesn't make much sense. I took it to mean we upped our offer to the agent rather than the club, which would also fit with Lennon's comments about us making a new offer.
