That dude looks about 10 and claims to have worked for loads of papers...

Very true. Bless him, complete wind up merchant, that fans on other forums believe? I love his twitter mate Aaron King, who says that we're about to sign Walcott, Ballotelli and Sturridge, oh and that RK is coming back. :emoticon-0140-rofl:

If this is true it is a real break from my perception of The Southampton Way which would be a shame

Fits the ambition of fielding 50% of homegrown players. Just need to bring through a few more now (or buy the others back)

EDIT I see you posted that yourself as well. lol

So guessing this is a pipe dream that can be put to bed now. We need another interesting and improbable signing to keep us occupied....preferably with a lot of badly translated comments from foreign papers (I've missed those )....until Saints actually sign someone we never thought of (because we'd never heard of him).

He's still clear favourite to sign for us.

Not because it's the 2nd, but because this rumour has appeared before and been much quoted in the papers and then fizzled out. As for odds quoted by the bookies, they reflect money being put on and not necessarily the likelihood of something happening.
When it's 4/9 they know something.

The difference as far as I can see it, is that previously it was just an easy story. Now we actually have ITKs saying theres something in it, and he does want to come, and there is interest from us. Whether that will transpire I don't know. But it seems like this time there is something to it.

A loan makes more sense for us but not for Arsenal as it would run another 6 months off his deal. If we only want to commit to a loan can see someone like West Ham just biting the bullet and paying what Arsenal want.

Loan with an option to buy leaves us in a similar situation, and no point in doing a loan with a guaranteed purchase at the end, may as well just buy him now. So we either buy him now or he goes elsewhere I would think. Another factor is the Sanchez/Ozil situation, if one or both of them leave then they may want to keep Walcott as they aren't exactly loaded with attacking options, saw a rumour they are apparently recalling Lucas Perez from his loan due to being short of attacking options.
