Let’s get Andy Carrol in and complete the set.
They're all pretty loosely fitted together. Maybe we can taken them apart then use the parts to create a single player. With Walcott's pace, Austin's positioning, Carrol's height and Sturridge's finishing we might have a hell of a player. Would have to use a lot of Sellotape though.

If we get enough injury prone strikers then we'll hopefully always have one returning from injury when another gets injured . Austin for 1/3 of a season, Walcott for 1/3 of a season and Sturridge for 1/3 of a season and we're sorted <laugh>.

I can see it now on the BBC :

  • 44 Forster
  • 5 Stephens
  • 3 Yoshida
  • 6 Hoedt
  • 33 Targett
  • 8 Davis
  • 18 Lemina
  • 16 Ward-Prowse
  • 11 Tadic
  • 22 Redmond
  • 12 Walcott (Austin 37') (Sturridge 61') Gabbiadini (75')

I like Theo because he never forgot his roots and is always respectful of us the fans, would love to see him back but can he cut it these days?

Arsenal have better and more creative players than us, but despite his overall appearances being low, he still has been scoring reasonably regularly.
His career average is about 1 in 4(inc sub) and he scored 19 last season in less than 40 games.

So,
2006 We sell Theo to Arsenal for a total of £9.1m.
He stays there for the next 12 years while we flounder around the lower leagues.
2018 We get him back with his best years behind him and give Arsenal all their money back plus a bit more.

I was going to say that it never happens that a player goes back to their Academy club and when it does, it’s rarely a success.
On the other hand, Rooney is doing ok.
Nah, can’t see it. (Fingers crossed)

This is an Arsenal fan twitter account, no idea how reliable he is with information, but does have a lot of followers. He is claiming fee is £30m which is a bit of a surprise

I hope the figure is a long way south of £30m!

I would assume that is some way off. We'd be absolutely destroying our record transfer - and for someone who clearly isn't even wanted by their current club.

Then again, it's not my money. Just so long as it doesn't hamper us strengthen the other key positions.
