We’re not in a very good position to get a good deal, whoever we go for.
The size of the VD deal, added to our inability to score regularly, will have a lot of clubs playing hardball, knowing that we will become increasingly desperate to bring in new blood, the longer we struggle for wins.
Failure to beat Palace will probably add a few more millions to the asking price of any player we are already haggling over.

Not to mention the basic fact that's in January.

I think the club have to accept that whoever they go for this month (not just Theo), they're almost certainly going to have to pay over the odds. But that is punishment, in you like, for failing to invest properly in the summer (or the summer before that!). It's pay a premium now, or risk much worse financial consequences come May.

Swansea are probably in a similar position with the Siggy money.

We maybe got an extra £10+M for Virgil by selling in January rather than the summer so this to be factored into any purchase. If we had accepted £65m and then bought Theo for £20m, would that seem better value?

Presumably after last night, Arsenal will now be asking for another £3million. (And I would normally suggest the player asking for another £10,000, but given Theo's links to us, maybe he wouldn't)

Why the f*ck would he want to come here? Plenty of other clubs he could get first team football at that don't come with the risk of becoming a championship player next season!

2 signing on fees in 6 months would be pretty nice.

Southampton are favourites to sign Arsenal’s Theo Walcott if the winger leaves the Emirates during the January transfer window, according to Sky sources.

It’s understood the situation is likely to become clearer in the next week with talks expected between the club and Walcott’s representatives although a deal is not imminent.

Walcott may consider wage cut to secure more games ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
