For me, I rate the goalies thus;

01. Courtois
02. Lloris
03. Begovic
04. Cech
05. Mignolet
06. Vorm
07. Howard
08. De Gea
09. Wojciech Szczęsny
10. Ben Foster
11. Mannone
12. Krul
13. Guzan
14. Jussi
15. Boruc
16. Schmeichel
17. McGregor
18. Heaton
19. Rob Green
20. Speroni

I think Forster slips in around number 10 at the mo <ok>

Forster will have a tough act to follow, if he starts instead of Artur. He saved us countless important points last year, one that springs to mind is Swansea at SMS last year. Swansea should of won 2-6 but due to our fantastic keeper we won 2-0 and I was one happy chappy.

Enjoy

Boruc below Jaaskelainen - woah.

Can't really blame me, a touch of nostalgia there. Jussi used to be a great keeper, one of the top 5, can't believe he never got an offer from a "big club"! He's diminished in ability, certainly, but he's still a fantastic shot-stopper. Boruc, like I said, just isn't my type of keeper. If I was a manager, I'd have any of the 14 above him ahead of him in the pecking order.

Your list is a joke mate. You've got Speroni at 20th and he was great this season. Jaaskelainen is not West Ham's number one keeper. Adrian is. Hart isn't on your list either, you've got two Chelsea keepers.

This is a post I made a season ago, when rating goalkeepers
01. Mignolet
02. Asmir Begovic
03. Joe Hart
04. Michel Vorm
05. Julio Caesar
06. John Ruddy
07. Ben Foster
08. Petr Cech
09. Tim Krul
10. Tim Howard
11. Brad Friedal
12. Pepe Reina
13. Brad Guzan
14. Jussi Jääskeläinen
15. David De Gea
16. Ali Al Habsi
17. Adam Federici
18. Mark Schwarzer
19. Wojciech Szczesny
20. Kelvin Davis

For the sake of comparison, and how watching more of them, and their form, changes my ratings.

01. Courtois (brilliant goalkeeper overall) *not ranked previously
02. Lloris (quickest, smartest goalkeeper I can remember. Genuinely great at most other aspects as well) *not ranked previously
03. Begovic (fantastic shot-stopper, good cross-collector) *down 1 from 2
04. Cech (great solid goalkeeper overall, had a much better year, like his old self) *up 4 from 8, after he had those couple of wobbly seasons after his head accident
05. Mignolet (down 4. Difficult first season adapting to Liverpool and increasing demands on his distribution, still a class act shot-stopper) *down 4 from 1
06. Vorm *down 2 from 4
07. Howard (great year for Howard, was sensational at the WC too, always been a top 10 gk) *up 3 from 10
08. De Gea (he's got passed the stage of being a perpetual baffoon, and has become a pretty reliable keeper. Best distribution from a keeper I've ever seen) *up 7 from 15
09. Wojciech Szczęsny (had an exceptional year. would have broken the top 5 easily, had he not succumbed to bouts of rashness again in the latter half of the year. Massive overall improvement which pleasantly surprised me) *up 10 from 19
10. Ben Foster *down 3 from 7
11. Mannone *not ranked previously
12. Krul (poor season by his standards. His wife has given birth, he's had his head in the clouds, and had only one great game, vs Spurs. Highlight, though was as pen hero for the Dutch, when his record at saving pens for us is s****!!!!) *down 3 from 9.
13. Guzan (solid keeper, always has a good game) *no change
14. Jussi *no change
15. Boruc *not ranked previously
16. Schmeichel (think he will move up the list if City stay up, not expecting that though. He's a very good young keeper, who's been around a bit. Defo worthy of his shot in the big-time at last. Not a patch on his dad, however) *not ranked previously
17. McGregor *not ranked previously
18. Heaton (put in some decent displays in the championship, but expect him to be found out in the prem) *not ranked previously
19. Rob Green (Never been a fan of Rob Green. He has one decent season several years ago, and got into the England squad until someone decided to give him a game <laugh> He's one of the flappers. These are the worst breed of goalkeeper. They palm the shot into areas where attackers are, instead of catching the ball, they flap on collecting crosses, and usually flap at punches) *not ranked previously
20. Speroni (He's had some good games, but the pj keeper has had several howlers along the way, and just isn't up to prem standards in my opinion) *not ranked previously

I was wondering why I had only 20 when I knew I'd intentionally put in 2 chelsea keepers. My mistake :)

I'd put Hart in around Mignolet and Vorm. I'm not convinced by the boo-boys, but he wasn't his usual standard last year.

And Jussi played 18 games last season and I think he's better than Adrian, so it's hardly laughable. Let's see your list then <ok>

18 games and then was dropped for costing west ham too many points!

Last November, most pundits were declaring Boruc in the top three keepers in the league. In not saying he is, but that is how highly he was thought of before his broken hand.

Your list, followed by your list of excuses and reasons for errors lacks credibility and really is just a list of keepers YOU like and has not much bearing on reality.

We're paying a lot of money for a keeper while our 1st choice is more than adequate. Would be better spent on a CB and another forward where we are seriously lacking quality and numbers.

Boruc only has a year to run on his contract, Kelvin's unlikely to feature much as he moves closer to a coaching role and Gaza still needs to develop before he's good enough to play at this level. Therefore signing a top quality keeper is a good move in my opinion.

Can't believe some are still arguing about whether we need a keeper or not. We basically only have Boruc...you need two good keepers, competing and helping each other. Davis is a decent third keeper...experienced but will hopefully never be played. I think Gazza would be better at another club...not good enough for us, but would benefit greatly from playing time. It's not as if buying Forster leaves us scraping the barrel for pennies...doesn't affect any other purchases. Forster is another cog in our new playing machine.

If he finalizes the deal, you will be getting a very good keeper ...

Can we get boruc back <laugh>
