Know nothing about him, but the fact Bayern signed him means he must have something about him.

Assume this means we terminate Long’s loan

I know nothing about him, but he doesn’t have to be amazing to be an improvement on what we have. Glad it looks like we are getting it sorted early in the window, albeit still 6 months too late.

Yeah I am not expecting him to be much good, but hopefully an improvement on Macca/Baz which shouldn’t be that hard.

Being loaned in as the guy to replace the first choice at Hamburg to then not even make an appearance for them isn’t a good sign that he is a top keeper, hopefully decent enough to keep us in mid table for the remainder of the season

I was going to say the same, but then remembered that Baz came from City (though to be fair, they didn't sign him, but they did sneakily sell him!)

Their keeper has been some kind of reincarnation of Zoff mixed with Banks this season, hence his lack of game time by all accounts.

yeah don’t think it’s the same as Baz came through the academy/is exactly what City want in a keeper with his distribution.

He came from Tel Aviv so doubt he was tested much in Israel either, so a proper clean slate for me.

Scored two goals as well, so perhaps we shouldn't assume he's coming in as a keeper. He could be the physical 9 we're after <laugh>

Oh he's Israeli. Ian won't be happy.

It's a win-win really.

To which predictable stuff I would say - there are many reasons we shouldn't have signed Downs, but because of Trump isn't one of them. This is no different. Peretz has nothing to do with what the Israeli government is doing. Not signing someone because of where they come from is getting very close to an area which I really don't think we want to be going near. I'd ask Ian (or anyone objecting) if he had the same response were we signing a Palestinian player, and if not, why?

What about someone from Sudan? Or Congo? We'd be fine with that, so....

Whilst I agree with you, I'm sure people would have similar questions about signing a Russian player in the current climate.

I wouldn't have that much of an issue signing a Russian player (unless they actively supported the Russian invasion openly), but I'd would have understood people having more of an issue buying Spertsyan from a Russian club (as that's putting money into Russia directly).

We're not buying him from an Israeli club (though even that I think is a stretch for people to get upset by), we're loaning him from Bayern Munich (where he was subjected to anti-semitic abuse by nature of his nationality). It's actually a good opportunity for some people to have a proper look at themselves to be honest. Denying someone an opportunity, or worse, abusing someone by dint of where they were born has a name...can't quite think what it is...

Yeah I was just being daft really with a throwaway comment.
