I got giddy when Donald took over, bought into his words like many other, fingers burnt shall we say.
This time I’m meh, wait and see. That’s what the frauds have done to the club.

That's fair enough and I get that tbh.

What I find more difficult is when people are trying convince others to be cynical or accusing me of being gullible ...

... tbh, if I'm in the same situation as a 23 year old millionaire I'll take my chances.

The club seem to be getting their ducks in a row for the first time in a long time. In a way, I'm sort of pleased Saturday gone was a total ****-show. It allowed all of the new people to see exactly what state the perfomance side of things is in currently, warts and all. We've had a fair few 'papering over the cracks' style wins this season and ultimately they only serve to do exactly that. Johnson and Speakman have seen it first hand now and can put plans/sessions/targets in place to begin to address the issues we have.

Good post. Agree with that.

If you got giddy with his Oxfordshire dulcet tones imagine how wet you're gonna get when an exciting plan gets broadcast in a 23 Yr olds french accent:emoticon-0110-tongu

Interestingly he just accepted mine this morning too after being 'requested' 3 or 4 days ago. A sign.....? I'll take anything at the minute

He accepted mine the day his name broke out in the press. He doesn't post much, but it's canny to see when he 'likes' stuff to do with Sunderland.

Funny enough, hindsight is 2020 but I was genuinely "meh" when Don and Chaz came in. Double relegations had taken it out of me, as it did thousands of others. I had still renewed my season ticket but didn't believe anything they had say and that's the truth, they were too quick to say yes to everything asked. However this time around I'm more up beat. lol time will tell mate.

So which paper do you believe or are both right and its something in between?

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/lee-johnson-spells-out-three-19409568 - where LJ spoke with Donald? (Therefore he MUST be Donald's appointment! :emoticon-0114-dull:)

or

Probably somewhere in between for me.

It is always likely that LJ would be talking to very many people involved with SAFC owner past and present along with employees which would include both Donald and Rodwell, it would be rude not to. Importantly in what capacity was the chat about, l'm not speculating l will leave that to idle gossip.

Don is still a shareholder but I don't think he had a final say, if any say, on the appointment, just seems at odds with how he's actually run the place. If it is Don, why not do this before now, what's been stopping him? Why sell off the youth players then appoint a Sporting Director and head coach who stress the importance of developing youth into the first team. I can't get my head wrapped round Don having such a turn around tbh.

I agree with you. I don't think any of this has come from the "existing" board but from the new but I do think that LJ did have a discussion about the job with Donald with the final say coming from KLD. That's why I thought the truth was somewhere in between the 2 stories.

WMS have had a good old meltdown on twitter about this. They can't seem to get their head round the fact that Stewart Donald had a conversation with Lee Johnson

Of course he would. If I were in Johnson's shoes I'd be speaking to as many people as possible about the club and the issues they are facing. Unfortunately for some, it just means that Stewart Donald is still pulling the strings and the takeover is just "shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic"

Can we not get a 23 year French female to do the presentation on his behalf?

He must've believed something good was about to happen cos if I spoke to Donald and looked at what's happened at the club in the last few years I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!

We need to see if these new people walk the walk. It’s as simple as that. We’ve seen what Donald and Methven are capable of doing a and we know their intention is to spend nothing and maximise profit ahead of winning football games. In time we’ll see if Sartori and Dreyfus aren’t as stupidly arrogant. I do worry that the ego’s of Laurel and Hardy may mean they have some sway and they are still shareholders so have some anyway which is why I want them gone. Hopefully the structure and the new people appointed have some power to make wiser decisions.
