Canny this. Johnson explaining how he set up when he beat Manchester United, with his team having a lot of injuries meaning he played Bailey Wright at right back. Talks a lot of sense. He’s no mug, as some seem to think.

York beat Man U
It's does not make the manager a superstar

Not sure how i will get my nose broken on a message board. Its about opinions. These blokes just dont do it for me. The negativity comes from over 40 years watching mainly ****e and seeing ****e manager after ****e manager. Now this bloke from birmingham, i will give benefit of doubt. But johnson as a manger? Is he expected to get us promoted to prem league, or will we be sacking him off next year.
Broken nose is merely an example of a reaction to constant wining and negativity, obviously other ways are used to deal with that kind of behaviour on a forum.

Have to admit to being underwhelmed after the likes of Pearson being mentioned.
That said if parky could have us so close to the top with his turgid predictable football then this fella looks a better bet to get us over the line.
From what I've read it's exciting football and youth are given a chance.
Mind I also read he sticks with favourite players even when underperforming.
I'd also be concerned at his habit of trying too many formations and confusing players (most footballers aren't renowned for being the brightest sparks )

That said I'll back him as with every manager that walks through the door and hopefully this new setup and DOF gives us that extra foundation and impetus to catapult us out of this shìthole league.

Do you know if he has changed his mind?
I would have liked Pearson as well but not sure he was ever a possibility. It will be interesting to see the length of Johnson's contract, it will indicate whether he is here to establish us as a Championship club then make way for a higher profile manager to take us to the Premier League

Again no idea but Phillips incinuated he would be the man for the job. one of those ain’t it, shy bairns get nowt so unless you ask you will never know

You're right it doesn't. But could you see Parky ever trying to actually beat Man U? He barely tried to beat Doncaster or MK Dons!

And Johnson then almost caused Man City an upset not long after as well.

I'm going to give him a chance. Attacking football with hopefully the right structure behind him. Let's see what happens.

Cowley has won what? promotion to L1 and a Johnstons Paint Trophy? Woop-di-do
Cook won promotion from L2 with Portsmouth then L1 with Wigan
Pearson was NEVER going to come here

Johnson took a relegation threatened Bristol and turned them into promotion contenders

Of all the achievements listed, THAT is the one that Sunderland needs the most
The lad can have an opinion...just because if may differ to yours doesn't make it any more or less valid.

Time will tell but to me it is an underwhelming appointment and if we are going down that road then I would have much preferred the Cowley brothers over Johnson.

I loved this when I came over but it is now becoming RTG 2 will soon depart if nothing is done
Thing to do is log off, or don't look, for a few days or a week. More in my case.

Do the same on RTG, but end up arguing whenever I return.

Lot of good people on both boards, and I know quite a few personally. They tend not to post much as it happens.

The ones who post on this board every day are clearly invested and I respect that, so leave them to it, but cliques can emerge.

Reflection of life really.

......and then others would be underwhelmed at the cowleys. Regardless of who it is, it's the new manager. People perform better in a positive atmosphere as opposed to a negative one. The more that get behind it, the better the chance of success.

Very true, however this is safc, there are no secrets
I don't subscribe to the fan forum conjecture, I would rather deal with the facts. Speakman is here now and he is in the process of selecting a new Head Coach and Head of Recruitment and I reckon we need to get behind him and see how it works out in the future
