It'll be great for this bloke to produce some gems that get sold on to line Donald & Methven's pockets - while we stay stranded in League 1.

If this doesn’t put to bed ‘fakeover’ conspiracy theories then I don’t know what will. No way would Donald make these sort of appointments.

Also Dave Jones just tweeted “start of a new era”. That to me as as good as the first official confirmation of the takeover being done as we have had. Lads, we are here.

I must admit to bed wetting as some have put it. I just can’t help but think now was the time to get a manager that would get the fans together. There can be no doubt this has split the fan base right down the middle which gets off to a very bad start. I like the structure but just can’t work out why they didn’t go for a all in one announcement including Dreyfus to show a whole new Sunderland.
It feels more like same old Sunderland same old Donald.

Wasn’t my first choice but I’d prefer Johnson to cowley at this stage personally. I want us to create an identity on the pitch in a similar way to how Swansea & Bournemouth went about it in this league. I think Johnson is more known for a style of football that would be closer to what I’d like to see us playing. I don’t feel this is as underwhelming as the parkinson appointment, at least Johnson has had relative success in the championship, I think the poyet buzz earlier in the week has possibly made the potential Johnson appointment appear worse than it probably is. Anyways I’m hoping the appointments above him are going to give him a much better foundation to be successful.

Just got this from my BCFC mate...

“No way!!! I bet he will do well, he is a football geek and studies the game constantly. Feel he should have been kept at City”
...another...

“Yep, I think he did alright! He always had to buy players on the cheap bring them on and then they were sold from under him for a profit! And yet he kept City in the top half of the championship!
Don’t think it was fair to expect him to do any better in those circumstances!!”

Mate get real. We’ve appointed a manager who’s only target in his managerial career is to keep a team up. He received death threats from Bristol city fans. He’s currently out of work. Of course he was going to take the job. The outstanding candidate and most fans choice was pearson and Phillips who has a far better cv and was interested in the job. Why didn’t we speak to him? Because if we couldn’t afford poyet we couldn’t afford pearson. So it is unambitious because from the word go we are reluctant to pay to get a good manager in.
You have no knowledge of the structure or remit. I doubt Pearson would work with a Sporting Director. And what aren’t you understanding about the fact Johnson managed in the CHAMPIONSHIP, and we are in LEAGUE ONE. If his target was just to keep a team up them he did a bloody good job considering he nearly got them in the play offs multiple times. It’s silly to think the owners are unambitious when they’ve appointed a manager from the division above. It’s you who needs to get real about what division we are in.

Time will tell. We are all Sunderland supporters who want to see the club doing well . Yeah we are having a restructure and fingers crossed it works well but lets be clear about 1 thing. Billionaires who are ambitious and mean business wouldn’t even look at Johnson regardless of what league we are in. Very worried not much has changed in terms of ambition with rodwell still big decision maker at club. People might try and put a more positive spin on things but sadly thats the truth. Very naive to think otherwise.
If Rodwell doesn't perform I'm sure the new people will soon replace him.

Surely this takeover is getting announced this weekend. Are we waiting for the manager to get in the door before it happens do we think?
