In what was meant to be such a good week in terms of things getting done, excitement building amongst fans

To now knowing nothing that’s happening. Such a shame

I think people need to get realistic about League One. It’s the absolute pits. And any manager worth his salt wouldn’t drop down to this level, even to Sunderland, especially with the opportunity of failure realistic. People wanting an ‘ambitious’ manager are just not being realistic. We need someone in who can get us promoted now, then maybe an ambitious appointment can be made once in the championship. It’s just never going to happen in this league.
^^^^This......people seem to have overlooked that we are currently a mid table division 3 team

Hopefully they get back on the blower to Poyet and resolve the issues and I can make some money
£200 on at 2/1
£50 on at 8/1
I’m going for a bigger name than cook, Crowley or Johnson, if sartori and Dreyfus are taking this on then I think it’ll be someone that has not been mentioned now that poyet has gone. if however it’s other people doing the hunting then I’m gonna prepare myself to be disappointed
It was Cloughie who said that to make Sunderland great again would take a complete unknown. He even said that the job was too big for him.
At least I reckon that’s what he said or something similar anyway.
I can’t believe Cloughy would ever admit that any job was beyond him. Great bloke, great manager, but a bit of a modest egotist!

I’d like to know who realistically people think we should go for instead of Cowley? Pearson was never going to work with a SpD and Poyet has fallen at the very last hurdle. Someone like Howe I would have but I’d imagine he’ll be waiting for a better opportunity. Cowley isn’t the big statement we were hoping for but is definitely an improvement on Parkinson. And this appointment does not mean its suddenly Donald and Rodwell picking the manager the fact Poyet wad so close should say it all.
Me too, people need to get ****ing real like. It makes us look like spoilt brats the way people have gone on about the Cowleys. We are where we are and I think they’d be a good appointment. They’d definitely find some promising players coming up through the ranks compared to the dross we have now.

If you think Cowley will be happy working under somebody then you might want to do some digging. Mind you it’s probably his biggest ever pay day so might just say owt to get the job.

I agree, if you fail at this level your career has taken a huge step backwards. It’s a big risk for someone to take it who has a decent profile regardless of us being a massive fish in this pond.

I disagree, I think being ambitious about the manager is realistic. Not many clubs as big as Sunderland knocking about, same reason a billionaire is taking us over we have premier league potential. Also we should have enough money to offer them a very attractive package, why not. You get what you pay for.

Poyet was a big name and he very nearly signed.
hes been out of work for 2 years man(sacked 6 times in 5 years and averages 30 games per job) hes a big name ex player not a big name ex manager

Regarding Cowley at Huddersfield - if the championship only ran for the period he was at the club they'd have finished 9th. Not bad for a team with 1 point from 7 games when he joined.

And then they sacked him and now they're bottom half again.

I'd say he's succeeded everywhere he's been, and if he's the guy then so be it. Wasn't my choice but he's by no means a "jobs for the boys" appointment.
