ah balls - I knew it was one of the guys Liverpool appointed

the views of some supporters are amazing really. I think back to when we appointed Dennis Smith - a manager from York - there would have been a social media breakdown. I honestly believe we need someone who knows their way round to get us out - this was what Dennis Smith had.
Great post, mateI agree, although I have sympathy with the fans who are frustrated. Ultimately after so many kicks in the bollocks we just want to believe that things might actually improve. Maybe Cowley would be class, but I can forgive people for wanting more of a statement manager to give confidence that we're likely to see things change. Of course, the owners can't let that cloud their judgment, any "big" manager would have to be coming here for the right reasons. So I agree that we can't write anyone off based on their name or where they've been, but I can understand the disappointment if it's someone low key. The immediate, unavoidable reaction will be "nowts changed" and it will immediately put a bit of pressure on people. We'd never get Poyet whilst Donald is running the show. Getting him would suggest there must be big plans afoot. Cowley would probably have applied regardless of takeover so it would be a disappointment in that regard. Like I say, that doesn't mean it would be wrong, we'd need to wait and see and he might be a great choice, but I won't criticise any fan who is underwhelmed by it if it happens
Too bloody right! It's really dampened my enthusiasm about this whole "takeover" thing, if indeed that's what it is. A bargain-basement, fairly inexperienced lower league manager untested at a club the size of SAFC, working under a DoF/Sporting Director doesn't quite sit right with me. Would the money not perhaps be better spent on a better quality manager - assuming we could attract one?
This is the problem. If fans aren't accepting of it, that's a reason not to appoint him. But if the fans will only accept a big name, the choices will be limited and their motives for coming here will be questionable.I agree, although I have sympathy with the fans who are frustrated. They obviously thought they had their replacement, even Poyets son thought he was coming here
YesWhat worries me about this so called takeover is, is it a takeover or just Donald redistributing the shares to keep him in place. Suppose Sartori increases to 40% KLD 40% Donald 15% Methven 5%. We all assume KLD and Sartori are new owners. But if Sartori sides with Donald they then have a 55% say in the club.
Is that a better option than the bearded one?
People need to stop having this stance whereby everything needs to be either black or white, I don't think it makes people bedwetters because they don't believe Cowley is the right man for the job mind.
Lets be honest here, Appointing Cowley isn't really a statement of intent is it? We are supposedly on the cusp of a billionaire takeover and it looks like the manager we are going to get is one that lives across the road from the current CEO. It doesn't really inspire me that it's the right decision nor one that has been planned properly considering we offered a different manager a contract to sign yesterday.
I feel like we have gone down this route before of appointing managers in the mould of Grayson, Ross, Parkinson etc and we need something different that the fans can get behind. All of the 'successful' managers we have had, have came with a bit of an aura about them, abit of arrogance and credibility. The manager is the fundamental ingredient that drives a club forward.
It wouldn't be right to write Cowley off provided he gets the job, but i think fans are allowed to be sceptical. A CV of Braintree, Concord Rangers, Lincoln and 10 months at Huddersfield, doesn't necessarily indicate to me that he should be the stand out candidate.
That's not bed wetting, just how i see it.

We are a league 1 club having to work within a salary cap, unfortunately a proven manager above this level is probably unlikely. Whoever’s comes in needs a fair crack of the whip. This is the problem. No news would be good news compared to yesterday!@Prehab saying possibly some good news today?
Its interesting reading back through yesterday's comments and how some people have changed their narrative / explanations every so slightly to fit their own bias. You could do a psychology study on human behaviour from the comments on here and how our own internal bias makes us react in a certain way to events and change the narrative to fit.
until the big boys come knocking to poachAgree on Mumba but not robson, I think we need to build the team around embleton. Much the same way Spurs did with hoddle he could be ours, let the other team worry about our star player
That is quite interesting. As you probably know, its been shown that the more you disagree with someone, the more entrenched the views of both parties become. Its interesting reading back through yesterday's comments and how some people have changed their narrative / explanations every so slightly to fit their own bias.
