I agree, although I have sympathy with the fans who are frustrated. Ultimately after so many kicks in the bollocks we just want to believe that things might actually improve. Maybe Cowley would be class, but I can forgive people for wanting more of a statement manager to give confidence that we're likely to see things change. Of course, the owners can't let that cloud their judgment, any "big" manager would have to be coming here for the right reasons. So I agree that we can't write anyone off based on their name or where they've been, but I can understand the disappointment if it's someone low key. The immediate, unavoidable reaction will be "nowts changed" and it will immediately put a bit of pressure on people. We'd never get Poyet whilst Donald is running the show. Getting him would suggest there must be big plans afoot. Cowley would probably have applied regardless of takeover so it would be a disappointment in that regard. Like I say, that doesn't mean it would be wrong, we'd need to wait and see and he might be a great choice, but I won't criticise any fan who is underwhelmed by it if it happens

Might be a blessing in disguise, Poyet had his flaws too. Seemed a bit unprofessional, looking from the outside of course.

I was pleased with the suggestion GP had taken the job yesterday and thought it meant that he’d seen the plans and the vision on where the club would move forward. All that seemed very positive. I was deflated by yesterday afternoons news.
This morning, I’m thinking that the DOF model is one that gives you continuity if it’s done right, and if that’s what we’re doing, we need someone on the same page as the DOF or at least someone who’s able to adapt their style to the players the DOF brings in for them. If Cowleys able to work like this then why not give it a chance.
My only concern with this is, as I said yesterday, I think this club needs a big boost to galvanise the fans that have become apathetic. I don’t think Crowley would do that instantly. We need to get behind the new manager whoever that turns out to be and we need to be patient with them otherwise the merry go round will continue

This is the problem. If fans aren't accepting of it, that's a reason not to appoint him. But if the fans will only accept a big name, the choices will be limited and their motives for coming here will be questionable.

Yep looks like it. So we maybe should know why it fell through, given no attempt at all was made to stop any rumour developing.

    Clearly someone changed their minds.

We are a league 1 club having to work within a salary cap, unfortunately a proven manager above this level is probably unlikely. Whoever’s comes in needs a fair crack of the whip.

Its interesting reading back through yesterday's comments and how some people have changed their narrative / explanations every so slightly to fit their own bias. You could do a psychology study on human behaviour from the comments on here and how our own internal bias makes us react in a certain way to events and change the narrative to fit.

That is quite interesting. As you probably know, its been shown that the more you disagree with someone, the more entrenched the views of both parties become.
