I have to say it's quite a relief to see the club breaking their silence and admitting a takeover is a possibility.

It's been frustrating seeing people's mood drop when things have been quiet.
Defo and what he actually said, just hope it all comes off and we have some proper hope and positivity. Saying that, still won’t stop some saying ‘this is ****e, that is ****e and constantly moaning.

It's bizarre to see the sheer desperation to dismiss what the club CEO is publicly saying.

As you say these people will totally ignore the fact that they were wrong about the takeover and switch to denigrating the new owners.

As things stand, this morning, we have a big match to anticipate and the hope that the club is moving forward ...

... I, for one, am feeling optimistic about both.

I thought he spoke very well on a number of subjects including being as open as he can be about the takeover position. He also made some great points about covid such as he can sit on a plane next to a complete stranger for hours at a time or go and watch opera but you cant sit in a football stadium in your own bubble. The club spent hours of preparation getting all of the safety stuff in place only for the PM to cancel it and without any real reason or scientific data.

I agree, he made a good point when discussing the CV19 situation. It's madness keeping the fans away from stadiums and will ultimately see the demise of several League clubs if no rescue package is forthcoming.

And when he asked a govt minister/representative why he can sit on a plane next to a complete stranger for hours with a mask but not outside in a football stadium separated from other people he was told ' for economic reasons ' so the airline industry, which I get is important, can make money whereas they don't give a **** about football clubs.

I’ve no real issue with Rodwell so far. I think the other week when talking about the premier league deal he was speaking for ‘some lower league clubs’ as per the interview not just us. Some have chosen to hate him. He may turn out bad but on the evidence I’ve seen I’ve no beef with him.

He appears to be doing a good job so far, so he has my backing.

The PM is a confused, incompetent, elitist, buffoon, and government policy follows this

A large number of people just disagree and hate anything that anyone from the club says or does, the opposite view is always the right one by default, it's just how they are wired up.

There was a bloke who sat in the east stand used to shout ‘terrible Sunderland’ at everything, never praised a decent move and when we scored just sat there with his arms folded. I honestly couldn’t believe it and each week was the same, never happy. Had to move in the end ha

It's amazing how people can convince themselves of the most ridiculous scenarios.

This one seriously thinks the club CEO is publicly lying through his teeth 'to give Donald a few weeks without people sniping at him on forums' ... yeah like that's bound to work <doh>

"Surely there’s a good chance this update is him looking for an easy ride over the next few weeks?"

And people are agreeing with him ffs ....

... wouldn't declaring exclusive serious talks with a prospective buyer put other possible buyers off?

"Oh yeah, didn't fink of that like."

I brought some teenage kids I know to a game once. Liverpool fans but from West Yorkshire a few years ago early January. They said they were surprised how many fans we had but most looked stressed angry and unhappy. Probably shows the difference between the quality of the two sides if even Liverpudlians are seen as more cheerful.

Only time we have had 40,000 plus regularly backing the lads was when we were playing class football with Quinn and Phillips up front. Once things went tits up it soon stopped.

How come we've averaged over 40k 9 times since they stopped playing for us? We've only averaged less (39,095) once in our last spell in the top flight

These people exist and walk among us ...
