I still think Allardyce was showing signs of dissatisfaction before England came in. By that point the purse strings were being tightened, Short wasn't likely to sanction much and I don't think Sam was going to stick around with that being the case. We'll never know mind, but I think it was ****ed well before that ; probably when the very good Bruce team started getting dismantled (bent and Gyan going, bringing in relative plodders like Vaughan and even Larsson). That really started the rot imo and, although we put some plasters on it, we were always struggling to get it right afterwards
Thing is Bruce seems not to be able to manager players with huge egos, whereas Sam could (or he'd just batter them) :)

Particularly when in the first couple of weeks after the season ended we were being linked with Dzeko and Subotic to augment that side.
Really felt that we would kick on and become genuine contenders for a top 6 spot.
Thanks Woy and Iceland.
Then we got Moyes and it all went spectacularly downhill and we’ve yet to recover.
I've not been in Iceland since!!! They can stick their prawn ring up their :emoticon-0172-mooni

Absolutely right mate. People moan that our academy doesn’t produce much but premier league scouts were always at our youth games pre COVID-19. The lads coming through the academy are certainly good enough it’s ensuring they get the help and support to find a pathway to the first team.
We cannot simply keep selling these lads on very young for a quick buck!! This is something that has been very evident with the current regime.
What you should also notice is that since NB made his announcement there has been no young talent left but we have picked up a couple from other teams?? Maybe its just me but don't think that is a coincidence either.

I noticed that, Neil signed on a three year deal too. Potentially looking at that lad from abroad too who wouldn't be cheap, relatively.

That's not true at all, there have been multiple meetings about takeovers and share issues over the last few months, I have also heard from 2 people with different sources about a new chairman being appointed. However, this appointment could technically go ahead even if the owners stayed.
