It's like the office worker who claims she was 'touched inappropriately' ....

... sounds serious, raises eyebrows and suspicion but can't be proved or disproved.

Sometimes it's nothing more than sad attention seeking.
Blimey, I have not read any of the previous posts as just opened the thread at a random point but that's a odd example to compare against a football rumour

Never heard of him but I hope this puts an end to cowleys as they don’t want to work with this system

Never know like. This is by far the biggest job Cowley is likely to get anytime soon so if it was a case of having to comprimise in some areas, I think he might.

Reckon there's a chance Poyet's ego wouldn't allow him to report into a 41 year old "kid"

I think it might be the case Poyet wanted more control over aspects of the club like signings and wouldn't really be happy about having to report to anyone in that regard. Game has moved on from the manager being the only one who decides who we sign imo and if he wasn't prepared to work under that structure, so be it, other candidates will.

Bollocks to them mate, they need to get the takeover done for all the decent people who support the club and hope things will become better.

The pro-pessimists will never be happy, no matter what.

100% agree. There's always going to be a minority of people who are never happy unless they are complaining about something. Sadly with social media, they have a louder voice than their actual numbers justifies.

Must admit I'm getting lost off by all these titles as well!

I always thought a director of football would be the one who would identify targets (heading up the recruitment team) who would suit the style of play the club was implementing. There'd be discussion with the head coach but by and large positions would be identified and they'd get the players.

Technical director was more about the coaching and staffing side of things, especially in terms of recruiting and developing staff.

For me, a sporting director sounds like someone who would sort of have a role in both of those. In a large enough club you might have a DoF, an academy manager/ director and a technical director who report to the sporting director. But if that's the case I don't see the need for a chairman. But if this lad is coming in as the sporting director type role then I don't see how we could also have someone above him. Time will tell I suppose

I don't think there's anything odd about it all, just shows how people have different ways of thinking.

It's a totally hypothetical example, off the top of my head, and not done to make any direct comparison.

I have to say, you thinking it is one thing ...

... making a point about it does seem a little odd tbh.

I suspect the takeover is about to be pushed back based on the news of the EFL bailout. We're about to get £375K + a share of £15m determined via lost gate receipts. Likely to be millions we're about to get. If that hasn't been factored into takeover discussions, i can see it delaying things.
