i think klopp will rest quite a few players in the lge cup game, nothing too drastic, but i can imagine rests for couts, firmino, hendos out with suspension, possibly try a front 3 of ings or origi in the middle and studge/ings/origi either side.

For me Spurf the importance of scoring first against ALL teams is paramount because of our struggling forwards. I do NOT feel confident about levelling if we go behind.

City look very, very wobbly at the minute. Pep has inherited a squad that barely scraped top 4 last season and to be perfectly honest hasn't improved the starting line up whatsoever other than future hopefuls Stones (who I think will eventually come good) and Gundogan.

Beyond this, he has set an ageing, creaking team up to play a system which is risky at best, suicidal at worst. And the most stupid thing about it is that half of the players being trained to play it probably wont be at the club within 2 years and so he'll have to start again with anothet batch of players. I made two big calls at the beginning of the season: United to win the league and City to miss out on top 4. The first prediction looks hopeless but the second is starting to carry some water.

I've been very sceptical about Pep and remain so. The PL isn't like anything he's seen before. He's nailed his colours to one tactic. The opposition doesn't have to work it out. He's told everyone how his team is going to play and it's not exactly hard to work out how to combat it. If he had top drawer players doing it or mixed it up a bit with a long ball or two, then it might be a bit more effective. However, right now there are too many slow and average players in defence and central midfield and they're an invitation to get stuck into. I'm not sure that kicking out Hart as brutally as he did, did much for morale either.

Not worth £15m a season, so far but they'll just spend another £200m next summer and try again.

His comments about quitting management before ever adapting the way he plays was just plain stupid. Those ideals may work when you have the best players in the world at your disposal, in leagues with very little serious competition throughout, but it will never work in the Premier League when the gulf between the top teams and the 'lesser' teams wasn't as vast as it was before. It's far more competitive here and he's not going to be in his comfort zone, like he was at Barcelona and Bayern.

The Barcelona academy was years in the making, and took about a decade
before they got the consistent talent pipeline output they now take for granted.
Pep is now in the PL, where the typical English player technical competence is
well below La Liga and the pace/physicality is far higher.

I doubt he will be at Citeh long enough to come closer to remotely seeing
similar happen.
