Would you have approved planning for the container cafe?

But they aren't a pioneering, top,10 city with a far-sighted council like Hull.
I recognise the irony but funnily enough that's exactly what St Nazaire is! It's not to everyone's taste (mine included) but what they've done there since the war is pretty impressive. And it's largely down to having civic leaders with some balls and vision!

Well why this application? If we had a thread for every refused planning application there'd be hundreds on this board.

I thought this one was interesting, as it's an indication of what the Council think should or shouldn't be happening round the Marina/Humber Street area in the run up too City of Culture and I wanted peoples views on it.

It's not obligatory to post on a thread, if you're not interested, just ignore it.

i voted yes but if its only gonna flog coffee then no.i remember having horlicks with me dad on sundays in the cafe on the old pier terminal.
was a while ago like!!

I didn't say i wasn't interested, I wondered why this particular application refusal was highlighted when hundreds each year arent?

And thanks for the advice. I mean, you've never chipped into a thread to cut it short, or delete it, or tell people to change the topic or rubbish it....

Same old HCC really. They hardly move with the times.

When other city's are renovating old warehouses & factories into luxury apartments & shops, we're destroying them or just leaving them empty.

One of England's most historic sites (Beverley Gate) is a at the minute, a whole in the floor with rails around it, a few steps and a lot of debris & takeaway rappers collecting in it.

Shops are shutting down all over the centre because of high rents. Prinny Quay, Whitefriargate are starting to look like ghost towns.

You could go on.

Don't know if anyone has seen Boxpark in London. A container parade of shops and art space. I thought something like that would be good around the Marina next year. I can't believe the short sightedness of the city council. Or maybe I can.

HCC do it again. It looks ok to me and another smack for new business / private enterprise. It should have been given a short term licence to see how it goes. imho.

Without wishing to get political - You get what you vote for with these clowns.

The results of the Burnsy Poll on Hull Council @Hullccnews rejecting shipping container cafe on Marina. 82% say the council got it wrong!

334 people vote.

Says it all really with Burnsy's vote and as for the HCC.............. <doh> ....................... angels weep.!!!!!!

It would be great to have a Boxpark type site down Blanket Row, though I don't actually know what's planned for the empty land down there and I suspect any developer would also be nervous about the fact that there's already all the redeveloped units to let down Humber Street as well.

There seems to be a lack of threads about the numerous **** ups in ERYC, never mind wider afield. Just threads having snide digs at a neighbouring authority on a board with "no politics".
