Ashby is improving a lot, possibly because he's actually playing in his correct position. Still terrifies me pissing about in our own third.
.
i have been the biggest critic of the 'pissing about' but time and time again today we pulled in Watford's high press and then played Smyth and others in behind with a couple of quick one/twos. This is how it's meant to work I believe and Ashby seems central to making that happen.

Definately worked well in the second half, to the point that I couldn't believe Watford continued falling for it.
Its always more relaxing to watch when its down the Ellersley/School End corner as opposed to right infront of me!

Unfortunately due to our Sky overlords sodding around with kick off times, this one coincided with lunch in Funchal old town and if I'd looked at the phone for updates I'd have been dead meat..... so just catching up now.....
Fabulous read from start to finish this thread..... sounds like the perfect performance and the sort of result we should have had at their place..... well done lads....
For those interested lunch consiste of fish pulled straight from the sea, local wine and lovely deserts, all for less than €100 and in a very pleasant 19 degrees of warmth......
A lovely way to spend the day...... Happy New Year lads and lasses......
God I love Funchal old town, ahh the memories. Not jealous at all honestly:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Just a few things:

As the free kick was played down the line for the first goal my only thought was "what a waste", then I realised Morgan was chasing it and not Anderson/Madson etc. A little pace, dedication and desire and the balls at Freys feet for the goal.
I'm really enjoying watching Morgan cement his place in this team.

Smyth has been immense in our change of fortune, as well as speed he has now got composure and is putting some decent crosses in.
If Chair had put in a performance like that we'd be arguing over how many millions he was now worth.

As for Dunne, right back/centre back I dont care where he's played but for me he's the first on the team sheet. Another huge performance.

Really pleased Field scored again, he does miss some sitters but never gives up and keeps getting in those positions.

Totally agree.
Ashby has taken a lot of criticism on here playing out of position. But, as you rightly point out we can see what he's capable of playing where he should!

I also think we should not forget Varane he is growing every game and reads the game well. I had a feeling he would be our best buy, he will be one to watch for the future. I hope we can hold on to him.
