Darren Ward. Players who have played for both clubs would probably be my Mastermind topic.

I don’t have any strong feelings towards Watford either way these days after suffering the demise of QPR coinciding with their rise from lower league nothingness while growing up in the area and my two best mates being Watford which made me desperate to beat them when we rarely did (the 4-2 at Vicarage Road circa 2006 was glorious).

There’s an arrogance there from their fans (that I know anyway) which doesn’t make a lot of sense. They’re absolutely a team we can get at if we play the way we do best. They’re soft as ****e. Some very nice players who on their day should dance around us but I’m convinced if we hit them early á la Norwich at home this is very winnable. There’s a small rumbling of discontent after a mixed bag of results and I don’t think they’re a particularly mentally strong group when things get rough.

12:30 on New Year’s Day shouldn’t be allowed. Nobody wants it.

Soft as ****e. Moany bastards would’ve murdered us if they just came to play with some bollocks

Up the Queens Park Shaggers

That was an enjoyable watch. I couldn't go as there were no trains down my way. I thought Varane's miss would cost us especially when they pulled one back. That was a game that could've gone 5-4 if both sides took their chances. Smyth MOTM for me although there were good performances throughout the team. Watford might be in a better position if they concentrated on their football rather than winging their way through the game. Up the Rs.

PS, how do we go from today's showing to what we served up at Swansea in the space of six days? Bizarre.

I hope that Smyth performance finally shuts up the hipster kids. Some really superb, gutsy performances throughout the team. Makes such a difference having Frey up there and players around him.
So do I. It won't though. Cue the next over hit cross - they'll all be queuing to have a pop again. BTW did you bung the ref to award enough cards for you to cash out that well?:emoticon-0105-wink:

To answer your PS question. A stable centre back pairing had to be replaced at very short notice and shell shock/panic at how easily they cut through us.
There is of course the other simpler explanation. Every team has a **** performance just around the corner - remember the hammering at Scunthorpe when we went up under Warnock and Scunny went down. I was there. And it all started so well with Hulse (even) scoring after 5 minutes. It's going to happen once in a while and guess what? It's not the end of the world. Basically in every sport confidence and self-belief is easily lost but harder to gain. The manager has to do that. El Cif has shown that he still has the players confidence and ability to do that even if some on here don't or should I say didn't..

Didn't feel like a game that deserved eight yellow cards
As has Horny says, it was very niggly, loads going on off the ball. I was expecting a red for Frey and perhaps Smyth, plus perhaps their lippy 39 cry baby.

Great game, moment of the match Jimmy giving their fans a smile whilst down injured, chant of the match, he’s going to cry in a minute to one of their many whinging players. So many decent performances and Morgan Fox is actually coming good, sorry Morgan I had written you off. Feel for Frey, I’m a little surprised he came off with his shirt still in one piece. The two Southampton fans with me got to see a win!!

Another hard fought for 3 points. I was nervous until at least 90 minutes even with the 2 goal lead. They did have a couple of dangerous attacking players. We played well again. Quite a few contenders for MoM with Frey, Smith and Dunne at the top for me.

Field was MOTM, in my opinion. He got a lot right today. Some lovely dribbling. I think he needs to be made into an attacking player because he excels there.

Smyth officially MOTM. I can live with that because he was very good as well and made a lot of things happen.

He actually is the player who makes things happen the most in our whole team, consistently.

We really have got a decent midfield now.
Field Varane and Morgan are outstanding.
A proper powerhouse.

With Smyth playing like a demon and Frey back and really proper CF...the attack is looking good.

Nardi is excellent...as is Dunne.

Life is looking good.
Long may it last

So why was their goal disallowed?

A foul on GK was official reason.

But did the ref realise that it should have been a GK and not a corner...and so righted his own wrong.!
