I'm presuming that there isn't 'massive' interest in this 'Mickey Mouse' cup final for some, 'cos we need to concentrate on the league, which is far more important
It is, comparatively speaking, a 'Mickey Mouse Cup' but it's a competition that we, at our current level, have beaten whoever we've been drawn against to reach the final . . . . which means that OUR team will be playing at Wembley. Our opponents are 'only' Tranmere, which emphasises the 'Mickey Mouse' bit, but it's still a cup final, AT WEMBLEY, where the vast majority of players, wherever they are in the football pyramid, will never play
At about this time on Sunday (posted deliberately about now) I wonder how many of those that are not very interested will have slowly but surely become more interested, and the usual nerves will have set in . . . . a last minute trip to the toilet, tell the wife to shut up or go out etc. and open the first of a few cans
It'll be time to be as we always are . . . . SUNDERLAND A.F.C. fans
Come on . . . .![]()
Well said.
We all know the league is the priority, Portsmouth is more important and promotion worth more than the cup ...
... but some supporters will never see their team at Wembley.
Newcastle supporters can mock it, despite harping on about the tinpot cup win against a team they can't spell, but how many have ever seen their team celebrate at Wembley.
They haven't won a cup there since 1955. Once Portsmouth is over I'll start to really look forward to our Cup Final broadcast to the nation, Haway Lads.
