nail hit firmly on the head there. I said earlier that no-one bar a small minority would have been bothered about having a referendum if Europe and our government had accepted that the way freedom of movement of labour was working was not working for many. Even just tinkering and altering it slightly would have helped but the EU stance of No we will not discuss the subject for all those years allied with our government's reluctance or ignorance to discuss the issue just meant that the pot got hotter and hotter and simmered and finally got to the boiling point.

The "warsaw" comment isn't really about feeling like you're living in Warsaw or hearing foreign accents. It is when people would say to politician they are taking over the council estates (of course an exaggeration) the politicians denied that they were even getting council houses when the reality was that we know who is moving into our street. How can a politician tell me they aren't getting a council house when 3 have moved in (that was 2008) 1 in 3 houses on my street now is Eastern European. Many are nice and pleasant young families. We get on but a few are 3 generations in a small house that is unsuitable for 9 or 10 people.

It was the lies and denials as well as refusal to budge publicly by the EU that led to yesterday.

Hopefully more politicians will listen to what people are saying in the future like John Mann has and even Corbyn has said this morning. Corbyn however should not try and tie in the austerity and cuts to this. This all started under Blair. The cuts are just something that makes people a bit angrier about what started back then.

ImpSaint - Did you see my post above re:selfish?

Whichever way you voted it was a vote based on ignorance. The fact, the only actual fact, is that no one knows what the future holds and that would be true if 'Remain' had won.
I don't think anyone has the right to claim the moral high ground as some are doing. To accuse people of racism is not clever and, for the majority, way off the mark.
I don't even believe this can be interpreted as an anti- Europe vote more an anti-federal Europe vote an an, "I told you so" to the politicians.

Lff, I believe you've hit nail bang on with that last sentence, that is where Cameron blew it in his negotiations with Brussels IMO.

I have never had your gift for tact and diplomacy Fats. So I'll spell it out in simple English, and tough luck if I offend anyone;

Our country's future is being decided by thick ****ing racists.

Thank you very much. I shall tell my black wife that I want a divorce because I am racist and replace her with a Polish white woman instead. This is what drove some people. Those who want to remain insisting that if people want to vote to leave they are racist bigoted xenophobes. People are tired of being called names because they disagree with someone else's point of view.

How can they ? They as part of the UK voted out .

Silly old you. Scotland are only part of the UK when it agrees with what Scotland wants, is increasing subsidies for the oil industry or is upping the Barnett formula in their favour. Anything else and they are a proud, independent nation who want rid of the oppressive southern scumbags.

Seriously though within hours of one cock up politicians and media are taking the Scottish electorate for a mere bunch of lemmings, again.

It sounds like a lot of people have a problem with capitalism with their complaints of cheap labour taking jobs from the UK. People fail to realise that the UK is ultimately powerless if big companies wish to up sticks and set up elsewhere - IE Ford shutting down their Southampton plant to expand their operation in Turkey. Interesting to note that people genuinely think we can negotiate preferable trade deals when we're likely to lose Scotland, and possibly Northern Ireland. This could lead feasibly us to dropping out of the top 10 economies in the world - after so much of the trade argument was based around us being the 5th biggest economy and countries would be queuing up to agree free trade deals. It's not going to happen and there will have to be compromises on the freedom of movement - which for a lot of people was the main issue of the EU.

I also don't think the polls in the few days leading up to the referendum helped the remain camp at all, as they were all suggesting that the voters would come out and back remain, which I believe led to a lot of would-be remain voters to stay at home as they felt the result would be remain either way. Whereas the leave voters were obviously very passionate about their vote and were much more enthusiastic in persuading people to vote.

Basically, we're going to have to bend over, lube up and let USA, China, Japan, India & the EU have their wicked way with us.

Some of those who voted remain. Some.

Racism isn't defined by colour alone,I think Archers is correct but ONLY because that minority who are racist have swung the vote, not that everyone who voted out is racist.

While no one is claiming that everyone that voted leave is racist/nationalist, you can bet your last diminishing £ that every racist/nationalist voted to leave. Far too many people are getting defensive about the whole thing.

I totally agree that every racist/nationalist voted to leave but that does not give anybody the right to label all people who voted to leave as racist or nationalist.

I would also agree that every corporate finger in the pot couldn't care about the working class voted to remain but I will not be labelling everyone who voted remain as that.

Diane Abbot didn't, she voted remain.

Two Labour MPs have submitted a motion of no confidence in Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Margaret Hodge and Ann Coffey confirmed the move in a letter to the chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party.

The motion has no formal constitutional force but calls for a discussion at their next PLP meeting on Monday.

If accepted it would be followed by a secret ballot of Labour MPs on Tuesday.

Bye Corbyn

Excuse me Impsaint - where have I called you selfish? I haven't said that.

I've just re-read my post and you have grabbed the stick right at the wrong end. I was saying that I was being selfish because of an immediate affect to me, not you being selfish.

Fair enough. Yes we are probably talking about the same post. This one. I guess I misread it:
Wrong! Example one ( a selfish one). My prices have just gone up to everyone of my customers on the flick of an exchange rate dial. That means they may be forced to buy elsewhere or you end up paying more for your products.

We both voted the way that we thought was right. There may be differing reasons in different geographical areas of the UK for our decisions but people haven't tried to p**s anyone off by voting one way. The majority of people have made an honest decision for whatever reason(s) meant the most to them.

Just seen John Redwood on TV. Why does he seem to be putting off actually leaving the EU I thought that was what he wanted? I hope whoever takes things forward is more dynamic than him or we'll be living in uncertainty for years. He didn't seem to know what the way forward was. Surely there is a plan.
