No one disputing IH passion or challenges managing under these circumstances. However the point is the apparent lack of a tactical or strategic plan to use the resources we do have. I actually think we've had worse squads than this and certainly I'm encouraged by the flow of young players coming through. Having 6/7 wide players and not playing with width. Equally having 2 lumps up front and not providing them with the service from aforementioned wingers. Young players signed and not played......my expectations this season are lower mid-table and IH may well achieve that despite his lack of tactics rather than because of it - which leads to the reasonable assumption that a smarter coach could do more with this group.
Gary Rowett (& Lee Johnson to a lesser extent) an example. Sacked by Birmingham when they were 7th and have been a basket case under three different managers since then. Derby under achieved for 3 years and now after 12 months of Rowett they are second. Not suggesting that's achievable with our squad but it is clear the coach is critical and with someone with some decent tactical nous I believe this squad can achieve more ESP considering some of our results at home this season. Away tactics a disgrace and a complete mystery
What about Paul Hirst at Shrewsbury - relegation favs and currently splitting two recent PL clubs in L1
Nathan Jones at Luton - only MC have scored more in all 4 divisions
Just feel our managerial appointments all the way back to Sparky have been clueless and have prolonged this situation longer than was necessary.
I remain positive in the squad but seriously doubt the cosy cabal of TF, LF, IH etc can maximize what we have
Happy New Year to all
