I find it funny people talk about the need for "consistency" with Pardew, when we have a very good season one year, and the absolute worst since our relegation the next year... Maybe if we ever produced a consistent performance they'd have a point. We had consistency under Hughton.

I can't fathom how anyone can preside over their team playing their worst game in the year (a terrible relegation threatening year) versus their biggest rivals, at home, and yet stay in charge. If you can't get them up for that game, then there's something wrong with you.

People question whether Pulis has taken Stoke as far as he can take them, and I think the same is true of Pardew. He came in, made us slightly more grubby and difficult to beat, we had a good run... Now we've been figured out and yet he persists?

Our squad is like 2 times as big as most teams, and let's face it we all think it's better than ever, but it's being managed poorly in my opinion. We have no right to complain of tiredness with such a large pool to choose from, unless they're ****e. Anyone think they're just ****e? If so, I'll happily back Pardew to do ****e with ****e players!

I want Christian Gourcuff... The only thing that'll stop the pain <wah>

Is that what it was? Looked more like do what you want, go where you like and don't bother getting back if Sunderland Attack, someone else will put a tackle in probably.

Yeah, pretty much this. It was just a mess really.

DiCanio destroyed him. Pushed his defenders up from the first minute, got the midfield to push tight for 3/4s of the pitch, meaning we just passed it lamely at the back all game. He also pushed his wingers right on Jonas and put that side under pressure, and they wilted.

Pardew put out most creative player against their best and paciest outfielder, Rose <doh><doh><doh><doh><doh><doh>

If I can realise a mistake has been made after 5 minutes in having Marv down the left, why can't a professional manager? What a dingbat! It took far too long for Marv to appear anywhere else (til Ben Arfa came on actually), but by then it was pretty much too late. Sunderland dropped to the edge of the box, picked off woeful passes from under-pressure and panicking players, and just humped us on the counter. Easy.

Marv tried his best, running from deep all the time because their midfield was on top of us. He had skill and put in some nice passes. Some of his crosses weren't up to a great level, but he had run 90 yards every-time with precisely no options, so it's hardly surprising. He was the one player worth any credit at the end.

Mbiwa is truly hopeless at the moment. Coloccini manages to be a good defender against taller players by pushing players competing with him up and making it harder for them to get a good head on it, wheras Mbiwa just lets himself get pushed around and lets a target man head it where he wants. Pathetic. He's looking more Boumsong-esque by the game! However, before I get too harsh, as it's his first season you have to temper that with the fact it takes some adapting in this league. Colo and Vidic etc all took a season or more to get used to it. I don't think he'll ever reach half of their level though.

You have got to ask the question who could we bring in as well? I don't think anything should happen before the summer but if we look just as poor over the remaining games then it's time for him to go. Who do we bring in though, who is available and who would come?

    CHRISTIAN GOURCUFF!!!!!!!

    CHRISTIAN GOURCUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Just one suggestion like...

Van Basten might be quite useful with the players we have. Don't think many of this rabble will stay though, and not sure I want too many of them anyway! <laugh>

Agreed, Ruud Gullit did better and he was gone by the next game.

For ****s sake man wake up!!

How many awful results or poor tactical displays will it take?? What does Pardew do to warrant being the manager of our should-be top half club?

Did you ****ing watch today's game?? It was a shambles and it was clear evidence that Pardew has no motivational skills at all, nor tactical.

We need someone far more tactically aware. If that means getting rid of Pardew and his coaching staff them so be it

Alan Pardew needs to play Cabaye further up the pitch as a no 10 and move Sissoko deeper. Just compare Cabayes performances in the no 10 role for France compared to the deep lying playmaker position for us.

I did see the game. We were ****. I saw the Benfica game too - three nights ago. Three nights ago when there were threads using words like 'immense ****ing pride' and talking about how Pardew got his tactics spot on. I saw the threads on here not a week ago when people were saying they wanted us to go for it in the Benfica game even if it compromised the derby (not everyone I know but more than half). I'm not trying to say we were good today, or even this season. Its been disappointing as it says in the quote you replied to. But how managers are we going to get through when they have a bad spell? We have a history of getting fed up with managers and calling for big names. Big names like Dalglish, Gullit, Allerdyce, Souness, and Joe ****ing Kinnear. We did well there didn't we? I'm not suggesting being blind to faults. But I just think its crazy how we never learn from the past. We overreact and end up ****ed!. I'm wide awake to that danger.

You don't sack a manager now
    Or do you?

Would this result have happened with MON on charge of the Mackems? I think not...

I don't want Pardew gone now but I do I the ****ing summer

It might be something to consider. Certainly what worked about 6 games back isn't working now, and I don't understand why Pardew persists with tactics that are quickly nullified by the easiest of pre-match analysis.

The problem I have with moving Cabaye is that he doesn't look the same player he was last year. Now that's by no means a singular phenomenon in this team, but I'd rate his regression as comfortably the worst. His long-range passing is often wayward, his crossing is about as good as the rest of our team, and the less said about his tackling the better. The one saving grace for him this season is that he's scored a couple more, but that shouldn't gloss over the ineptitude of much of his general play.

He's trying, but I feel that there's something majorly wrong with him. Whether that's because he's being forced to play through injury, or because of the depression thing... either way, I can't find any excuse to start him after his last few efforts. Maybe the problem with that logic is we wouldn't be able to field a team if we only played those who deserved it <whistle>
