Our priority is getting the second application rejected, what happens beyond that remains to be seen. It's impossible to predict what will happen beyond that, firstly because he's a lunatic and secondly because circumstances could force his hand. If we get relegated, any name change becomes pointless, all the Premier League tourists will **** off and with gates and revenue massively down, he may have no option but to change his stance(or sell up).
Ok, so to put figures on it of all those polled (OSC & supporters trust combined) 16.7% voted YES 82.9% voted NO Fairly conclusive of how the fans feel then? Over to Mr Allam to prove these figures wrong and offer a YES/NO vote to pass holders & those with Customer numbers???
Whoah, put those goal posts back where they were. It's not about the trust, or the application as such. My point was simply to ask if history is liable to repeat itself, with the Allams claiming the polls represent a minority and use that as an excuse to maintain the current position of not using 'Hull City' on anything. You seem to be saying you feel that's a possibility, and if it happens, there's nothing in the rules to stop it.
Is it? Yes, the Allams need to have a vote, but the existing ones only show the views of a protest group and the OSC, with some being members of both an voting twice. At best it's 1,000 of 18,000 people. I'm not saying the majority don't oppose the name change, or that the Allams shouldn't carry out a poll, but in my view, the results need to be stated for what they are, not what we'd like them to be or we make the same issues as the Allams did previously.
Exactly the point I made in the Supporters Trust thread when their result was announced! The only poll that should count is one that can be verified, say like pass holders & customer numbers.
That's clearly the best way, and the fact the club haven't done it tells several stories. I think the existing polls do have a value, provided they're presented realistically, and with the appropriate caveats rather than generalisations.
PS. The total count for those that voted was 1,474. How many that were eligible to vote is not clear as the OSC have not released figures for this.
Knowing how his mind works, he will argue the difference between 704 total vote and the actual number of members are the "silent majority" and this should be added to the yes to Hull Tigers figure.[/QUOTE]
The Allams can claim anything they like, they just look increasingy ridiculous claiming there is a silent majority that support them and the FA are well aware of this. There is a separate issue regarding the rules clubs have to follow and with the support of the FSF and SD(along with several other trusts), we're pressing the FA to increase protection beyond just names, to cover kit colours, badges and the use of the playing name. The FA won't get involved in new rules until this case is put to bed, but we hope the rules will be addressed in the near future.
I think you will find that both polls already taken are "verified" with membership, numbers, address etc. Allam could choose to hold a season ticket vote but didn't. Also, quite a few exiles like myself find a season ticket impractical but joined the OSC because we are fans and so a vote from us is also relevant.
Cheers, so back to the point I made, you agree that it's a a possibility that history will repeat itself, with the Allams claiming it's a minority and use that to carry on as they have been. We got there in the end. It'll be interesting to see how the FA react to the branding issues, as several clubs use alternative names on all sorts of products, 'spurs' 'red devils' etc.
It will always be a minority vote as long as the Allams refuse to offer a voice to their paying customers and as his customers are 'irrelevant' their voice will never be heard.
I totally agree. It's why I make the point that it's better to present the rules for what they are, than to play the same game that the Allams are liable to. On a side note, it could be worth looking at why so many don't want to join either group.
That is a fair point, but as we all know Allam will use whatever means are at his disposal to discredit the results. It is not impossible for any person to be a member of both groups and therefore eligible to vote twice. Do you see where I am coming from now?
I didn't join either group for the very reason that I didn't want to 'buy' a vote. I know there is a wider picture for both groups, but in my view, it was essentially a bought vote.
You'd have to address that to the OSC, but I suspect it's a tiny amount, not many people would cough £8 just to vote in a ballot.
