Have I ever mentioned that the transfer window shuts about 10 minutes after the World Cup Final? This is not the summer to be pondering your back room structures. Hopefully the Promes deal is signed in blood (it's not, is it).

I've got no problem with Hughes coming to try and rescue us. I'm surprised people think someone better would take on our present predicament. We need someone experienced, we haven't got time to mess about with someone who doesn't know the league. He will definitely kick the players up the arse which is badly needed. If it's him, I wish him luck and hope he saves the day. It's time for the manager bounce! <badger>

Dunno what you’re worried about mate. We have an extensive list put together over a number of years for players in every position so we can act quickly

I can understand Hughes accepting a contract till the end of the season....gives both sides time to assess each other and is no doubt a nice little earner.

Harry? Surely you’re taking the piss? You do remember what happened last time we were in this predicament I trust?

That's got to be the worst shortlist I've ever seen in my life. Suddenly Hughes don't look so bad.

I think we're all aware that the shortlist that we could have now is a lot worse than it would have been in the summer or summer before.

Realistcally we are staring relegation in the face and have declined hugely, so not really sure what you're expecting...?
Be interested to hear some alternatives though?
And don't say Ancelotti or Eddie Howe, as I've heard a couple of dreamers say that.

I think the likelihood is that we actually need two appointments here. One to get us out of trouble and then a longer-term appointment. The problem is the getting us out of trouble one.

AVB, Pellegrini and Mancini all have good records pretty much everywhere they've been - win ratio I'm talking about.

Yeah I do and I'd be very worried about "Agent Arry" doing the same again.
That said if you look at credentials of available personnel at this point he's probably best qualified to do the job. That's all I'm saying.

For me I think if Pompey isn't still his "Spiritual Home" that he could have more of an impact than Hughes...
    That's all.

We are in the ****. This is the only reason I'd even contemplate it.

Eddie Howe would be a very realistic target, but couldn't see him moving to us. We still have much better resources then Bournemouth do.

He might have been a realistic target but not right now. Bournemouth staying up and have a good attacking team.

We are staring relegation in the face and if we go down then the resources argument isn't true at all as parachute is nothing like Prem TV money. Getting back out of the Championship is not easy.

I’m not sure if your list was for now or the summer. They are, and should be, very different things.

On either though, even mentioning Redknapp’s name is the first sign of madness!

    Here’s the thing.

Hughes will want the job long-term and for me that is not a good appointment as I think EVEN if he did save us, I think we’d be back in a battle next year.
I’d rather Hoddle took it for 8 games and then get someone appropriate when we know where we are.

For me Hughes is unlikely to have he impact to keep us up, won’t progress us, and if we went down he isn’t the man to bring us back up either therefore for me he’s the wrong appointment.

Therefore I’m open to anyone who could be the right appointment. Don’t think there’s many with the credentials to keep us up and then progress us who are realistic.

All these rumours about Rodgers etc are ridiculous. No way does he leave a side about to win a title to quite possibly get relegated. He’ll wait for a mid-table job.

Well, it’s going to be Hughes, so it’s all kinda moot.

We don't have a gun. This isn't the US you know!

However, with rose tinted specticules on ...

Didn't 'Sparky' :emoticon-0105-wink: turn a mind-bendingly dull Pulis side into an entertaining one for a couple of seasons and deliver 9th place 3 seasons running?
and bear in mind this is Stoke

Ummm! Not happy with Hughes on a long term basis but accept there probably arent a great list prepared to come here. Cant fail to think that he was sacked by a team lying a few laces below us because they thought he was doing a bad job....you know what he was
