Well now you mention it. I'd also like to see more than one player in the box when we cross the ball, just given the fact that we are being set up to bang cross after cross hopefully into the area over and over again.
Lunacy, that would mean we might actually score some goals and we can't be doing with any of that sort of nonsense.
Actually, hold on, if we score a goal... we wouldn't need a clean sheet. More than that, if we scored two goals.. we could even afford to concede a goal and still.. win the game! Holy crap, I think we might be onto something here!
Ian, I would love to agree, but an integral part of the job of a manager in *any* profession is to lift the spirit of their charges and get them performing to their potential. To me, what is happening now, is quite the opposite. It’s that which worries me more than any technical, team or tactical deficiency.
....and before anyone comes back to me with how difficult it is because egos, money etc. Listen, they’re kids with money. Sometimes big kids with money. I come across this a lot in my job too, and I promise you the basic managerial skillset is the same across the board, because the basic need is the same. Look at how Poch deals with them as an example, and look at how someone like Shaw has those basic needs as another example. Some people can do that. Some people can’t. The fact there’s an obsession (and often from a tactical standpoint it makes sense) with ex-players being managers limits the pool massively, In my (hopefully wrong) opinion, MP2 has neither the tactical (to win admiration from players) nor the man-management (to win love from kids) skills to do this at the level required.
The advantage Poch has is that he can be tough because he is in a position of strength. Winning generals find it easier to convince the troops to follow. If the manager is struggling for whatever reason, most players will be only too happy for him to take the blame. The players need to take a hard look at themselves....yes, they are suffering from the need for a finisher in the team (as MP2 is), but they can't change that....they can only take responsibility for themselves. Time for a Henry V speech from someone....if not in MP2's character, time for a player to step up...Fonte used to be the one for this. Will it necessarily produce a win? No....but at least they can look at themselves in the mirror.
I am of a similar opinion. I still say that we are geared to playing to a strong centre forward. Our attacking midfield seem to continually look up and realise that nobody is there. Something has to be done in January, if only as just another option at least, because you can totally forget any European competition at this rate. Then the next season you have to recapture your expectation, and we are expected to be the best of the rest minimum, on the evidence of the past seasons.
Must be time to bump this one. Any changes of heart? Did todays' match do enough to convince that MP2 has something to give ,or were Everton that bad? *Now there is a forum you must visit!! Along with KUMB, this is guaranteed to make you feel better about the current predicament
Liebherr Just wondered if it was you who was also posting as Singing Blue 3? The style of post is almost identical, especially with the over-use of the laughing emoji ? Has anyone else noticed a similarity?
