I aren't naming names. Debating won't change my opinion, I just think OLM has a real steady hand, a couple of additions to the moderating team to pick up the the basics and review in 6-12 months. OLM seems (to me) to do most of the moderating anyway.
Just thought, it might be worth the people being considered knowing how much work is involved beyond what you can see on the board for yourselves:
In August there's been:
a thread deleted (me) - personal comments meant it wasn't worth modding as there were too many responses continuing it and the thread was finished as an active topic anyway. PMs were sent to people who'd posted and might not have seen useful posts from it. - acted on as a result of one of the posts being reported using the warning sign symbol button at the bottom left of the post.
3 posts deleted (OLM) on one thread due to racist content (1 post and 2 responses that didn't make sense after deleting the initial post) - again the post was reported using the button
3 posts deleted (OLM) on one thread because it got political (1 post and 2 responses again)
A thread deleted (OLM) where a numty was talking to himself to top it on the board because nobody was replying.
A thread deleted (OLM) because all it was ever going to do was cause an argument between us and Leicester posters.
23 (yes twenty three) posts deleted on one thread (OLM) because of a doveston
style reaction to a comment.1 initial comment and then 22 posts as a result of it.
1 post removed (me) for a post on an OT thread to prevent a reaction that needed a lot of modding (see last example) - followed by splitting the thread to stop the offending poster complaining and derailing the thread as had been intended with the first post.
There's a few times as well where as mods we've deleted our own posts because it's duplicated, and there were 9 posts deleted on the Olympics sticky that we had (I'm not going through 37 pages to find them).
Beyond that there's been maybe 3 times I've edited posts, once to break links to pictures that broke the rules (the site owners don't like porn being in the normal public forums so links will be taken off as well). Twice for the swear filter, both times just to correct spellings rather than change content, and I hinted in a post to someone that they should change their signature due to the link they'd included in it.
I don't know what the others have done as far as modding without deleting goes (the threads with deleted posts in are highlighted so they're easy to find), but there's obviously been the merging of rumours into the relevent transfer threads and any multiple thread merges that we've had for say the Aluko signing or Dawson's new contract.
So there's not really much to do on here, although it does show that the majority of the modding work in terms of deleting comes from people responding to posts that need deleting rather than people making them in the first place.
