Of those not as yet ruled out.

Erik would be an interesting experiment, with his casual approach to images of fistings and such.

The Tickler most probably would take multi quotes to as yet unseen levels. Worth it for Chazz's reactions.

Party (I'm touched by the nomo) would Keep things on a nice level. Andy Paytons Mullet, Chazz, NFU, BCC, Stan, JD, Madhog, Bob and many others all have fine qualities.

Time to wow us with your manifesto's fella's.

On a serious note - Why not retain OLM, he can't have a Bosman, give him a 'break' from moderating, and bring in another couple to 5 mods (not sure if there is a limit?) to share the burden, we are after all one of the busiest not606 sites. That would be my preferred option, none of the front runners mentioned (I apologise) are in my opinion capable of moderating to the standard of OLM.

Not that I'm offended but how on Earth can you say that when OLM has been moderating since the beginning, and no-one else has ever had the chance?

It wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, just more a collective. I'm all for giving youth a chance, and if you had read my post you would see that. Increase the pool of mods from 3 to 5. But retain OLM, as despite the odd disagreement he does a bloody good job. You only need look at the baggage some of the other candidates bring. <ok>

You would make a better candidate if you read replies properly before shooting from the hip!<ok>

I know that it wasn't aimed at me, or anyone in particular for that matter, I said that with the intention of showing that I wasn't jumping to some hugely defensive position.
But really, I don't see any baggage anywhere. As controversial as some may consider someone like Erik, I think he'd make a decent mod (I'm assuming that's the style of poster you're referring to)

We could ask the Allams for a couple of quid to sign a new mod from somewhere like the Sunderland board...

But we won't have to, as your new führer I will take the proceedings by the scruff of the neck in true dictator style, by snatching the position of commander myself regardless of whether anyone votes for me or not.

Hold tight fellow tigers, we are now in transition into the third reich, we march on France next week.

    HEIL!

I aren't naming names. Debating won't change my opinion, I just think OLM has a real steady hand, a couple of additions to the moderating team to pick up the the basics and review in 6-12 months. OLM seems (to me) to do most of the moderating anyway.

I wasn't asking you to change your opinion, I was simply asking for you to elaborate.

Regardless of what anyone prefers, it seems that OLM is stepping down and we're going to vote in a new one - it appears most people are happy with that.

some funny candidates come to mind..

Miff - more tits to cheer us up when we lose..
    Dovestone - would ban muppets
The French Tickler -would remove any vaguely negative post
Erik - would welcome any "unsafe for work" posts

as long as it's not Mike Burgess who is a complete tit.. may the best man win..

Just thought, it might be worth the people being considered knowing how much work is involved beyond what you can see on the board for yourselves:

    In August there's been:

a thread deleted (me) - personal comments meant it wasn't worth modding as there were too many responses continuing it and the thread was finished as an active topic anyway. PMs were sent to people who'd posted and might not have seen useful posts from it. - acted on as a result of one of the posts being reported using the warning sign symbol button at the bottom left of the post.

3 posts deleted (OLM) on one thread due to racist content (1 post and 2 responses that didn't make sense after deleting the initial post) - again the post was reported using the button

3 posts deleted (OLM) on one thread because it got political (1 post and 2 responses again)

A thread deleted (OLM) where a numty was talking to himself to top it on the board because nobody was replying.

A thread deleted (OLM) because all it was ever going to do was cause an argument between us and Leicester posters.

23 (yes twenty three) posts deleted on one thread (OLM) because of a doveston style reaction to a comment.1 initial comment and then 22 posts as a result of it.

1 post removed (me) for a post on an OT thread to prevent a reaction that needed a lot of modding (see last example) - followed by splitting the thread to stop the offending poster complaining and derailing the thread as had been intended with the first post.

There's a few times as well where as mods we've deleted our own posts because it's duplicated, and there were 9 posts deleted on the Olympics sticky that we had (I'm not going through 37 pages to find them).

Beyond that there's been maybe 3 times I've edited posts, once to break links to pictures that broke the rules (the site owners don't like porn being in the normal public forums so links will be taken off as well). Twice for the swear filter, both times just to correct spellings rather than change content, and I hinted in a post to someone that they should change their signature due to the link they'd included in it.

I don't know what the others have done as far as modding without deleting goes (the threads with deleted posts in are highlighted so they're easy to find), but there's obviously been the merging of rumours into the relevent transfer threads and any multiple thread merges that we've had for say the Aluko signing or Dawson's new contract.

So there's not really much to do on here, although it does show that the majority of the modding work in terms of deleting comes from people responding to posts that need deleting rather than people making them in the first place.

    He socialises with real people.

On a more serious note though, I'm sure he does more of the deleting than I do when I'm at uni, and when OLM is away he definitely picks up more of the daytime stuff than I do coming on later at night. During the summer when I'm off I tend to have a computer online doing something most of the time I'm home so the reported posts get flagged up even when I'm not on this site (we get emailed when the button is used so I get told in messenger about it).

EDIT: And to add to that list, one thread deleted as it's from a serial spammer elsewhere on the site.

Sssh, i just keep quiet and wear the mod badge. <bandit>

I actually take it as a compliment if my modding goes un-noticed. I try to hoover up quietly in the background because, as you can see, discussion about moderating takes up time and board space. In my opinion it also sets the wrong atmosphere for the board.

I can certainly see where OLM is coming from as people do read and reply to posts from mods differently. That means there are some threads I steer clear of. The difference is I don't mind. In many ways it does me a favour.

I forgot to post what I'd come on to say. Are there any lady posters that could fancy modding? It could add a different perspective and encourage more ladies?

There aren't many women on here are there?

Unless of course some of you lot have been sneaky and been women all along, not revealing your true gender.

    I am now going to make a personal plea;

Any women on this board, reveal yourself to me!

Err, you know what I mean...

Just to add to Ricardo's list...

I get regular PM's from the mod's of other boards as a result of things our posters have posted on their boards and be prepared for a torrent of abuse from anyone who's comments you delete(it doesn't normally happen, but it does occasionally) and the same can go for anyone you ask to remove something juvenile from their signature, or simply just asking them to delete an advert from their signature. For some reason, complaints from our posters and other mod's generally came to me, this is likely to be spread across all the mod's if there's no longer one who's seen to be 'in charge'. It's sometimes hard to rise above the nonsense you get sent, particularly when you're trying to explain your position to a mentally challenge knobhead who's already got the hump with you.

For some reason, I was always the one
