New Manager

Of course we have time. He has the whole of this season now to ensure we don't get relegated and we show signs of improvement. Given where we are now, I think that's the most anyone will expect from him, including the owners. And in terms of avoiding relegation, it's not like we're 6 points adrift and into the last 10 games of the season.

While I hope he does well I’ve made it clear I don’t think he is the man for this job
Good coaches are ten a penny. How many ex players have all their badges? We have an abundance of talent in this squad but no management plan for them. And for his first proper role he’s going to struggle with that
We needed an experience man in the hot seat used to dealing with a wide variety of personalities.

I hope this is the start of a meteoric rise to managerial stardom for Rosie and then I'll note the date and say 'how wrong was I'... But, I have to agree with Chazz, with the personalities in this dressing room it needs someone with a CV and some kudos to make HCAFC what Acun and all of us dream of. The names mentioned before Martins, Carvahal, Corberon etc were on a different managerial level and the fact they were still talking to the ex Watford manager until very recently smacks as a bit of fan appeasement. Nice guys dont really cut it I'm afraid. My grannie was from Hull too... as with Chazz, if he's on Hull City staff he has full support.

... And surely its easier to manage players when they're actually getting paid and have contract security unlike in his previous gig?

With it been his first proper management job I think it’s massive who comes in with him, striking that balance between been a thinker and having that respect and discipline on the training ground is key. Someone who can compliment his weaknesses yet have that gel to form a good team. Best of luck to him and hope he does well but he’s going to need plenty of help.

A lot of manager/assistant partnerships do the good cop bad cop thing. Brownie had Nobby as his enforcer I recall - so yeah, absolutely agree with this.

I can't see too many negatives in this appointment.Rosenior will be tasked with putting a team together who can get some points on the board and consolidate us this season as a Championship Club..I believe he can and will achieve this,if he can't then we sink to League 1 status...Disaster!!(not for most of us but it would be to the owner).

If this has been done to appease fans,which I'm not sure of one way or another,then it's a significantly better option than him bringing in another Shota Arveladze?

I'm going to say he is. I think this is a shrewd appointment -leaving sentiment out of it- here is an up- and- coming manager, who is well respected in the game, with some fresh ideas and hopefully we will see the benefit of those. If you disagree feel free to say "I told you so" at the end of the season. I'm confident we are in a safe pair of hands.

As I said in the original post my heart hopes he is ... alas my heart is often wrong !

This appointment is, for me, the most exciting since Steve Bruce. Obviously it’s got to be seen whether him talking a good game turns into managing a good game. However he’s not coming with any baggage from other clubs, his one stint was temporary manager at Derby, I think they made a huge mistake.
I am a bit nervous for him, as I think most fans will be, we all want him to succeed. I just hope if he doesn’t get off to a good start, there’s not lots of booing going on. It seemed bizarre in the last few home games that we’ve not played badly, but people are booing at half time.
I heard his first press conference on Twitter, it was 2 minutes, & he comes across as a very good speaker. I notice that a lot of people in football say, “er,erm” a lot. Rooney is one of the worst for it when I’ve heard his interviews, but the 2 minutes I heard of Rosie, I counted 4, maybe 5 times, even then, 2 of them was for a question about, what was the first thing on his to do list?

Steve Bruce couldn't get the respect of the players at WBA, apparently in part because they didn't remember him as a Man United star or an alumnus of Sir Alex, they knew him primarily as the joke figure he was painted as while managing Newcastle and Villa. There aren't many managers around who have experience as well as an untarnished image as someone to respect.

You seriously judge a football manager based on the number of times he says ‘err’ in interviews?

Some managers are disciplinarians, others leave that to their coaches/assistants. Some are training ground managers, others are office types. It's really about the whole of the management team, not just the figurehead.
