What if another tonking is on the cards tonight? Will Pedro be stepping out for a quick bite at half time...you know the rest, safely tucked up in Lisboa by midnight thanking his lucky stars.

Hull City are closing in on the appointment of former Olympiacos manager Pedro Martins in what is being viewed as quite a coup by the Championship club. Martins was flown in to Hull by owner Acun Ilicali on Tuesday and spent much of Wednesday in discussions over his move to the MKM Stadium.

The Portuguese was again at the MKM Stadium on Wednesday ahead of the game with Wigan Athletic as negotiations continued. It’s understood Martins will sign a three-year contract with the Tigers replacing Shota Arveladze, who left the club last Thursday.

Martins is expected to bring with him four members of staff, having worked with them previously during an impressive stint in Athens.

The former Olympiacos boss is believed to have been impressed by Acun Ilicali’s vision for the Tigers, coupled with what he views as a talented squad and sees City as an exciting project with the potential of getting the club into the Premier League.

If final terms can be agreed, it’s expected Martins will be at the MKM Stadium to watch City’s game with the Latics ahead of a formal announcement ahead of Sunday’s Yorkshire derby at Huddersfield Town.

Finally! Really glad to see he’ll be bringing more back room staff, I feel we’ve been missing a proper team behind the manager for a while.

If they do want the training ground next to the stadium, we already have land included in the existing lease, that also has an indoor training facility on it (and it's bigger than the Cottingham site)...

Include that grey area at the top and we are laughing

Do we have any idea who are the background staff. 4 seems quite an entourage.
