They sold off part of the site in 1995, it's what funded the building of all the facilities that are on the site now, they've not sold anything since that I'm aware of.

Yep, it's a really good set up (other than the car parking which is ****e - but that wouldn't matter if it was just a training ground) with several pitches and a good sized club house. My son's rugby team plays against them regularly - including this Sunday - it's a cracking site/location.

What do you know on this please? (pm if you'd prefer). Ta

What I know is:

  • The ownership are aware that our training ground is crap and want a new one.
  • The aim is to time this with promotion to the Premier League to help fund it - more money plus something about a grant I’d need to read up on.
  • The aim is to have the training ground near the stadium so it feels more inclusive, but sites have been looked at around the outskirts of the city.
  • We have a category 2 academy, but it’s a generous one when you look at other category 2s at our level. Barnsley, Colchester and even Crewe have better youth set ups than we do as it stands, that’s hopefully going to see some improvements.
  • 10 of the 27 category 1 academies play in the EFL, so we know it’s something we can achieve with a bit of a push and a new look training/academy centre.

The old Syd Smith site is huge has at least 4pitches , for Priory Wolves I think . Big area lots of space would be ideal

This is a very, very good appointment. While Olympiakos are easily the best team in Greece, the way he has them playing and the consistency of the style is very good. The fact that they got to the Champion’s League group, beat a decent Marseille side and nearly held off Man City shows how solid they were.

They then beat Arsenal at the Emirates a few weeks later. But that’s nothing to brag about, we did it first.

Could be a while then.
