The reason why I'd prefer not to have Moyes (he wouldn't be a disaster) is that I never felt he had any ambition or any plan for progressing Everton beyond that top 6 level, and we're sort of there already. Not established by any means but we're there or thereabouts. Against the big boys Everton had a terrible record under him and they weren't exactly exciting to watch. I could see an argument to bring him in to maintain us at the level where we are for a while but he doesn't seem like someone to take the team up a level and the board always say they want to progress. I think we can find someone with more potential to take the team further.
This is genuine question by the way that I've been asking myself the last few days, but how much further do you think we can realistically go? I'm of the opinion that with so many teams underperforming this season and with Leicester winning the league that the form isn't that strong. I could be wrong and I welcome criticism for saying so but had Liverpool and Chelsea for example played to their full potential would we even be in the Europa League next season? It's fair to assume that these teams will display a much improved effort next season (new, exciting managers, ridiculous transfers etc) and City and Man United could improve vastly which will push other teams down towards us.
I think that Europa League really is our level and maintaining it, as we have done for two seasons now, is as good as we can hope for- realistically. That said, I don't want Moyes lol.
