Yep, that's the one. Sorry, was in a rush and didn't check the language (just assumed it would be a Dutch site!)
Disclaimer: citing BBC as the source*, doesn't mention De Boer with any real credence. Just reporting that Koeman has gone and will sign until 2020, and suggesting that De Boer could be close to the PL. Then there's some filler with Gullit bigging him up. Not sure there's much in this at the mo. * - no one from BBC has said De Boer is close to being Saints boss, and the Telegraph which is being fed by Saints is saying Les has a shortlist to talk to
De Boer still still 3/1 and better on oddschecker and still 3 with paddy power. Not my pick and would lose me my bets too
Well his pedigree is similar, if in fact not much better, than someone else's and he does have the I've been there, done it and won it teeshirt that should garner respect. Saints could do a lot worse - obviously he's untested in the EPL but he's not a mug and to be fair the pressure to win things at Ajax must be intense even if it is probably easier to do so - mind you I think that belief held in some quarters is unfair, it's still a professional football club and you still have to coach them and win games regardless of ability.
My only concern with FdB is he might be a bit of a Neil Lennon, no offence Frank... Won four titles with Ajax (a job he got on the basis of his name) but as soon as Cocu rocked up at PSV, the club from Eindhoven have won the last two titles. And Ajax really bottled it in one of those seasons, letting it slip on the final day. He's had one job and done well there, but I wonder how it would've been if he'd started with someone like Vitesse to earn his stripes, like Koeman did. He'd be a gamble but the club do take gambles. I could get behind him but he doesn't really excite me much.
We will now find out what Les and Co. are really made of. Someone won't like it whatever the outcome is, of course!
I'm prepared to get behind anyone they give the job to, so long as it's not the phantom window winder of Sandbanks.
Too be fair it's impossible to call because what happens at other clubs really has no bearing at this club at all. Wasn't the Argentine sacked by his last club before us for being a bit sh**e? I thought AVB would be good but it is fairly easy to pick holes in his reputation - so to be honest I've no clue and will have to wait until Saints have played a whole season with A.Nother before real judgement can be made.
He was indeed. I said similar on Twitter. I'd like us to get back to going for a young, forward-thinking boss with a lot of drive. I think we can do that now, but at the time in the summer of 2014, someone like Koeman was exactly needed. Now, I don't think so. I'm interested to see how this progresses.
Think I've decided on AVB, if he'll do it. He was picked on at Chelsea, and even Spurs to a lesser extent, and he eventually backed himself into a corner. He'd get proper support at Southampton and I don't think that would happen. Could learn how to smile with benefit to himself.
I think the reality is at Saints he would get less pressure from the media as well as our off field team being able to support him.
