Telegraph update: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...test-potential-southampton-manager-to-drop-o/

- Saints seriously looked into Pellegrini
- Don't think he suits our player development orientated approach
- Not quite the right fit for us on the training ground
- Puel and Pereira are candidates
- Klinsmann was never even on any shortlist or under consideration
- Wanyama sale is imminent
- Redmond arrival is imminent
- Saints hope to have a new manager by the 28th still
I will be disappointed with Puel. I'm not sure about Pereira either.

My Portuguese Sporting supporting Brother in law who sent me that sapo article about the same time DTLW posted it up says he would be surprised if we got him because he is destined for a major club and doesn't understand why he hasn't got one of the really big jobs yet.

He did say yesterday that Pellegrini would be perfect for us as we are like Villareal however he said If Southampton manage to get Marco Silva they have found their holy grail. I suppose that means that he will be 'awf after 2 years to a big gun then if we do get him.

Silva sounds great on paper, but the whole thing seems a bit strange.

If he went so far as to resign from Olympiakos, then either he has a job lined up for sure with us or Nottingham Forest... or he really just wants to take a break from coaching.

But it seems most likely that he Koeman'ed them. And if that's the case, then he's our new manager. And we can in turn expect to get Silva'ed in a couple of years. I guess that doesn't bother me so long as we do get 2-3 seasons, and he lives up to his reputation.
