Knew Speakman would end up moving up in the world so not surprised Lyon are interested. Good youth setup there so presumably that's why they like him.
Highly likelyWhere ya this rumour come from? Is it looking likely or just usual chatter?
Same role as here or back to academy/development level? Hell of an opportunity for him either way so good luck to himlyon
He’s heading to Lyon with Nancy to perform against BrestWhat's Bill Sykes wife got to do with this![]()
Agreed. My only worry about this appointment is that we seem to do more gamble than play safe and it needs some balance. This definitely doesn’t land in the safety zone, if it’s counterbalanced by a more experienced assistant (it couldn’t be Poyet could it?) or DOF then fair play. The learning from last season has to be better balance at first team level. The rest I think is doing well.Aye good luck to the bloke if he leaves. He’s overall improved the type of squad we have just the balance isn’t right.
Have you heard anything about who we are looking to replace him withspeakman potentially going to french club
Well I can get behind a lad like Maric. Marco Rose is a coach I have a load of time for and Maric worked under him. Bayern are in a transition phase, daft as that may sound, and he was trusted by them with their coaching and football philosophy. Psychology student too, which is very relatable to the modern game and player.
I have long said we need experience in the dug out. In my opinion. I would have opted to go down a different route had I been in charge. That said I am definitely a bit of a footballing dinosaur these days. This has been my last year coaching at a good level and the youngsters coming through need their time and space to take things forward. So in Maric it looks like they have done their homework, chosen the man irrespective of any outside pressure and I am excited to see how it develops. I hope he is here for 3 years and more, that stability and continuity will be great.
One last point, I think he and Dodds may well get on, based on background, and I suspect approach to players. I am sure he will bring in a coach or two, but I wouldnt be surprised if Dodds is on that bench again next season.
