An appointment I can get fully behind, worked with some brilliant coaches and seems to be a very progressive coach. I’m glad we’re not just wanting the old names I.e heckingbottom and the likes. Hopefully we can give him the tools for the job.
Knew Speakman would end up moving up in the world so not surprised Lyon are interested. Good youth setup there so presumably that's why they like him.
I always find things like this interesting. Loads of Sunderland fans despise the bloke but a prestigious European club with a top class reputation for youth development see someone who can help them.
Aye good luck to the bloke if he leaves. He’s overall improved the type of squad we have just the balance isn’t right.
Same role as here or back to academy/development level? Hell of an opportunity for him either way so good luck to him
Agreed. My only worry about this appointment is that we seem to do more gamble than play safe and it needs some balance. This definitely doesn’t land in the safety zone, if it’s counterbalanced by a more experienced assistant (it couldn’t be Poyet could it?) or DOF then fair play. The learning from last season has to be better balance at first team level. The rest I think is doing well.
Completely agree. Would go as far as to say it's essential. Whatever goes on,we just can't have a continuation of our instability. KLD has to draw up the blueprint and get everyone on board with it,not just for a season or less. This summer is,in my view,a crucial time for us,and everything needs to be right....no excuses.
