I'd be against it. However, Neil and KLD were pictured talking and laughing together I think it was either during a pre season or the world cup break so I don't think there's too much ill feeling there. He'd need to have one hell of a first press conference to get fans on side.
Wouldn’t join under Speakman and wouldn’t be chosen by Speakman. If Speakman left and he implied he was the problem that probably would suffice judging by the posts i see.

No manager/head coach should be given total control. It doesn't work in modern football. However, we really need to improve the connection between the recruitment team and the coaching staff because Neil, Mowbray, Beale and even Dodds to an extent have mentioned the same things in terms of needing a bit of know how in the squad. We aren't far away and I truly believe we are on the right track we just need some tweaks.
Also I think a person with more first team experience than Speakman would help. Speakman does well with the bits he knows. Developing young players and academies.

Harvey is supposed to be that is he not?
People who know this level of football should judge if those scouted could play this level. It’s none thing finding good footballers, those good to own, another judging whether they are ready to impact at this level right now and give the sign off.

Harvey was head of recruitment at Blackburn, who are at the same level.

Mental given the statue outside the stadium

Absolutely. Unfortunately things have changed and just like society, football is now about extremes.

Look at the way people are calling for the heads of everyone at the club, because we're midtable.

Jobe Bellingham has not long turned 18 and is our second top scorer this season. But instead of being a promising young player who maybe needs a rest, he's "****e" or "will never make it". etc.

People are not capable of level headed opinions anymore.

But had a manager signing off
A manager doesn't need to sign off on signings, in fact I am completely against it unless you have one of the top coaches in the game like Pep or Klopp. Even then, some of Liverpools best signings in the Klopp era were not Klopp signings. They need involvement in the recruitment process yes but they shouldn't get the final say, mainly because the lifespan of coaches these days is under 2 years whereas players are signing 4/5 year contracts.

Harvey hasn’t played first team football or been directly judged by team performances. Someone who understands what it’s like to play this standard of football needs to make a judgment. There needs to be counterbalances on all sides.

So you have to had played the game to make decisions? That doesn't make sense. Some of the great football minds of our time barely kicked a ball in anger. People want Cooper in charge here yet the highest level he played at was the Welsh league.

Totally agree mate and I'm sure the club know that, hence trying for Kieffer Moore.

I'd only say that some of the injuries have been difficult to contend with. I remember Evans being written off, to a great degree, before it became obvious he was useful in more ways than one ...

... on field captain being one.

Cirkin has been another big loss, way advanced of his years.

No but either that or you’ve coached a competitive team at first team level, otherwise you’re just a data geek. Both approaches work well but if you don’t know the required standard it’s just algorithms

Is it fair to say that if you've never been a head scout spotting these players, you'd have no idea what the skillset or knowledge required is?

I am so confused by what your point is? What has playing at a certain level got to do with their ability to coach or scout?

Also, as someone who works in football in data and scouting who hasn't played an organised game of football since I was 16 does that invalidate my input at my club? Am I just a data geek?
