Reims are slippery feckers. They basically blackmailed Still into being their manager in the first place. So if he is first choice and he wants to come, it still isn’t easy.

Yeah this is why I kind of think he would leave. I don't think any other club has came in for him before us. Is it right that they were going to make him pay £500,000 or something to get out of his contract?

yeh. The manager’s young daughter had terminal cancer. Still was assistant manager. After a few bad results they sacked the manager, whose daughter was frankly dying (and has since died). Still then tried to resign in solidarity, but they said he had to pay them £600k to get out of his contract.

He reluctantly agreed to stay, turned their form around, and now here we are a season later.

Can't imagine he'd feel too much loyalty to the board then

And I imagine £600k to him given the fact he wasn't ever a pro on big money wages was just not something he could do!

this. The way he described the story, you could tell there is still resentment between him and the Reims hierarchy.

It’s why I genuinely believe he’d jump at the chance to move if he got the right opportunity. And I think he might see us as that and a gateway into England.

The challenge will be Reims.

There’s reports out there, likely untrue that state he’s only on £16K per year :emoticon-0102-bigsm

he worked for free in his earlier jobs so wouldn’t be surprised if it was much lower than anyone imagines. Definitely less than we were paying Mowbray.

Bear in mind he was being blackmailed into staying as manager. He had no bargaining power. And the £600k compensation he’d have to pay was linked to the fines Reims were paying to have him as manager, rather than his salary

Really? Good God, that's awful behaviour . How can you expect someone to respect you when you've cornered him like that?

yep. The crazy thing about this story is it’s come from the horses mouth on that Jake Humphrey podcast. It’s not third hand where you think perhaps it’s exaggerated or Chinese whispers.

He’s very clearly bothered by how it happened.

If we pay that 600k then it’s good times surely
