Many will try to spin this as a masterstroke because of some misguided unwavering faith in "the model"

The reality is it makes a mockery of the model as it's been stated he wasn't on the radar when Mowbrays position was being considered. So the idea of data based succession planning and identifying targets ahead of time goes out the window when you appoint someone who wasn't even on the list. Fair enough if it's someone who is a major coup left field appointment but, let's be honest, it's not.

Really?

Can't believe that after the Neil debacle we are going to appoint a man who during a 22 game spell at QPR took two job interviews at other clubs, then sat in the directors box of a Rangers game while they still had a manager and then took the job a week later.

Nearly 12 pages of anger and bile yet nothing official from the club and so far nothing on the club website?

Not sure there's much bile or anger.

I see exasperation and bewilderment. He might do well, lets hope so, but if there was anyone who would have welcomed swapping TM for him two weeks ago, I'd be staggered.

Good luck to him, I hope he's learned from his time at Rangers.

That's the major problem here, he had 22 games at QPR and took two job interviews in that time and took one the jobs
That could be a positive. After Rangers, other clubs won’t but queuing up to poach him as their HC or manager

Another is that our management structure will take player recruitment, scouting, style of play, long term strategy etc off his hands allowing MB to concentrate on coaching, preparing for games and on-field issues all things we know he is good at.

Dodds can use the goodwill he has with players to step in if necessary and as long as MB gets along with Speakman and his crew it could end up being another short term disappointment, long term surprise after Neil and Mowbray.

Neil was more of a medium term surprise but you get my drift.

Whilst I don’t believe Beale was first choice, I don’t for one second think that Fishpaste saying he wasn’t on the original shortlist is proof that he wasn’t. Even if Fishpaste does hear stuff, doesn’t mean he hears everything

No one will know. But I'd be staggered if he was on it, other than as a back stop.

The set up and atmosphere is totally different to what it was at Rangers tbh.

O'Nien will coach him until he settles in <laugh>

yeh agreed. I’m just responding to the suggestion it’s been confirmed he wasn’t on our list some how

I think Still was first choice and we’ve spent a week haggling on compensation, got nowhere, and so in an attempt to move quickly have appointed somebody who doesn’t entail compensation.

I’m hoping the contract is until end of season, allowing us to break it if he’s not working out, or extend it if he is.

What a fecking TERRIBLE appointment.

Just wait until you hear him in his press conferences, he’s simply awful, and has got the face you never get sick of slapping.

He’ll not last the season IMO.

I thought Mowbray’s arrival was horrendous, but this takes UNDERWHELMING to a whole new level.

Living in Scotland I’ve see his team & interviews as things gradually unravelled for him.

I cannot believe he will be our next boss, I’m so angry, and actually wish Mowbray was still here, and this episode was just a horrible dream.

Of course if by some miracle, he’s gets the right result’s & performances, I will back him, BUT it’ll NOT happen.

in fact, if the SAUDIS smash us, things will turn very nasty for him.

let’s be honest, sacking Mowbray only to appoint Beale is an absolute nonsense decision and the club hierarchy will deservedly get pelters for it. I’m struggling to see how on earth this bloke is the right fit and to say I’m pissed off is an understatement.
How it takes 2 weeks and shed loads of data leads to an unemployed Beale? Just another Lee Johnson by all accounts. Has all the nonsensical
Mumbo jumbo but no tactics
