On a really positive note if it had been 3 weeks later we could of ended up with Beheddie, so we don’t have to worry about that <laugh><laugh>
Also everyone crying about these foreign managers who nobody had even heard of 2 weeks ago is a tad embarrassing, they are about the equivalent of the managers at King Georges park in Pennywell<doh>

Reactions: rooch 3
First reaction is that I'd rather have Ian Beale.

Second reaction is **** me, the club must know what the reaction might be so they must be very confident in him. He'll have no honeymoon period whatsoever.

If not, we know KLD isn't afraid to pull the trigger.

that’s mostly his bad recruitment tho, right? And possibly squad morale?

Im confident neither of those will be a big problem here. Recruitment taken care of. Morale will hopefully be catered for by Dodds.
Lads say his man magement was a disaster..a long with other issues..

Many will try to spin this as a masterstroke because of some misguided unwavering faith in "the model"

The reality is it makes a mockery of the model as it's been stated he wasn't on the radar when Mowbrays position was being considered. So the idea of data based succession planning and identifying targets ahead of time goes out the window when you appoint someone who wasn't even on the list. Fair enough if it's someone who is a major coup left field appointment but, let's be honest, it's not.

but Dodds and Proctor are staying alongside him, so I’m not as worried as that as I would be if he was bringing his own team across.

what are the “other issues” and how much of those can be proven rather than rumour?

How am I not surprised that some of our fan base have written the guy off before he's even been properly announced and got through the door.
We have absolutely no idea how this is going to pan out but give the bloke a chance. How many wrote off TM in the same way, we've no idea length of contract etc so lets wait and see.
He's got a very good squad to help him so lets just see.

Let's hope so. But the main man sets all the tone.

That's my reservation about him. He didn't set it well at all at Rangers. That and the way he behaved at QPR before he left. It really wasn't good at all.

But he's the man so on we go. He has a very , very good squad to work with. Short up top, but the goals are still coming. It's set up here, and even if he does not encourage high expectation, he has little excuse for not keeping the team more or less where they are.

don’t think you’ll find anybody suggesting it’s a masterstroke.

I'm not sure all that many are writing him off. But the reservations are fair, given his moderate record, the way he left QPR and the fact that he is clearly way down on any list they had. We could have had him the morning after TM left.
