Unfortunately the number of times I have had to explain that Hull City are a PL club, justifies the label. In football and in the region we are well known but in general we are not.

The article is about football, it suggests that we are not well known in England. Patently untrue.

I believe that Assem Allam cannot understand why he is not venerated in Hull and why people do not trust him without reservation.
Given the success of Allam Marine it may be hard to understand by Assem Allam just why he could fail. Ego driven businessmen often are that way. I meet loads of them.

Absolutely agree. I was a boardroom guest at the KC a few seasons ago, the only conversations before the game, half time, and after the game were business, foreign villas and business/council contacts. It felt as though they were the senators in charge of the plebeian mob.

I'm not blinkered. according to the last accounts we have very little external debt because that is the way Assem Allam likes to do business. If he walked away he could do it in two ways, hand over to Ehab (would that really be walking away?) or he could sell us. If he sold us, the first question a likely purchaser would ask is how much of Allamhouse's debt are you going to write off? The quicker he wants to sell the more debt he has to write off. The more debt he writes off the more attractive we are to a buyer. Simple ABCs of business.

With Allamhouse owed £100 million and the advantages of the club's tax losses I don't think Assem Allam is going to walk away.

Is there any end to this lickspittle subservience

Stop looking for reasons to make this anything more than it is - inexcusable bollocks.

We don't need any rationale for a name change, because we don't need a ****ing name-change. We don't need some jumped up Johnny from the Economist using a small part of his brain to write a small but falsely contemporary article about something he clearly knows ****-all about. Moneywise we are a clusterfuck; leadership-wise we are blackmailed to ambivalence; heritage-wise we are a selling club. Two of these are correct, one is totally bollocks - that is, if you support the club and can ignore the whole big Assem Allam red-herring. He has taken this club to the ropes; this is his time - will he measure up?

As is my way I will question things. Perhaps I have been harsh on City Till We Die, perhaps not. I do know that I desperately (I don't usually use that term in this way) want CTWD to succeed in their primary goal and that I will be eternally grateful to them for their selfless actions - far more grateful than I now feel towards Assem Allam and isn’t that a downright shame!

Why do you persist in the belief that Assem Allam was ever willing to discuss anything other than the total acceptance of his pet project.
I've seen my fair share of "community consultations" and the rather inadequate meeting with CTWD sounds like something I would have been to 10 or 15 years ago.You would be expected to listen to the corporate spiel, realise how you couldn't live without them and then walk away,in awe of their brilliance.Once a question was asked of them it would always end pretty quickly as they don't like flaws being shown up in the master plan.
If you're unsure of Papa Docs' stance on questions then I suggest you re-visit some of his interviews.

Should I have said there wasn't enough time because not enough time was given? I don't think that anyone other than someone with something to offer stands a chance of succeeding with Assem Allam. I tried once and was told come back when you have something to put on the table.
Oddly CTWD complain that Assem Allam did not give them enough time to put something together and they believed him enough not to disclose it straight away. If it was considered by CTWD to be a viable offer to the extent that they continue to live in hope that Assem Allam will do business with them at some point, so it's not just me who persists with this view is it?

Fez, the article was posted and I commented on it, do I seek to justify anything? You are far too strong in your response. You are as guilty in stifling debate as you say DMD is. No point in discussing anything further, you have become righteous in your posting and that ends debate. It was you who first put out the idea that a forum was like talking around a pub table, it looks to me that you would be stood there in the pub banging your fist on the table to make your point, no debate.

I really don't understand the thinking here. We are only talking about football, so stay on track. We had no time to demonstrate anything because Allam was too busy conniving behind our backs. The length of the name is as significant as the length of Allam's cock; although, probably, less penetrating in its importance. Too much bull about Allam simply cements the bull that is Allam. Stop trying to be uber-clever and apologetic; try confronting the name-change argument. <cheers>

I don't know why the hell you keep interjecting yourself into the proceedings; believe me, you and me are no where near the pecking order in this sorry corn-feast. Unless you have something to put on the table then watch and listen like the rest of us; offer a frustrated opinion, but not an opinion of some importance.

I have offered my opinion that the strategy of CTWD neglected to sufficiently address the nature of the man, Allem Assam; but that is now done; debate exhausted, points made - we are all unified (I hope) in looking for the right decision from the FA. We should also remember that the CTWD lads are not sitting back on their laurels, they continue to progress their point. Let's not belittle that.

I have read, as everyone else has, many posts that talk about facts, figures, meetings, involvement and your opinion being sought; when can we read something that reflects some sort of progress? I don't mince my words on the pub table (my mates would tell you that), so there you have it; between the 'thing's you can't tell us and the 'minutes. we can't have, it's enough to piss anyone off. <cheers>

On a lighter note, I enjoyed a pint (or three), around that pub table, earlier in the evening. The conversation (don't ask) got to 'egg banjos'. This wonderful explanation came to light, which escaped me for 20yrs and more than that since:

    It amused me <ok>

The meeting certainly was rushed as far as organising a strong stance from the different groups thrown together for it.That's not the point I'm making.
Assem Allam had no real intention of listening to anything put in front of him unless it had pound signs on it.Lots of them.Being shrewd in business is as much about not losing money as it is gaining it.If,as he claims,he knows little about football then engaging with the knowledge in his core market should be of utmost importance to him yet it is quite clear that this is the last thing he would be willing to do.He wouldn't even have to deal with them himself,he could employ a liason, but he won't.
The companies that we've dealt with here have learnt lessons(along with more robust legislation on consultation I may add) and are now benefiting from engaging with the communities. The first company, which was able to railroad its plans through in the early days, went bust pretty quickly. In fact I work part time for the the guy that took over the project.Local guy, with expertise in the market that the get rich quick kids in suits said they had but didn't.
I am not saying I too don't hold out hope for some form of dialogue to re-start but it's a very, very slim hope indeed.Allam has made his bed and no one is going to stop him lying in it

Omega Man is right, it's just refusal to acknowledge and rubbishing anything that doesn't fit with your agenda, which is probably the mammoth portion of the reason why Allam won't care to listen to anyone opposing the change anymore.

PLT's post is rank hypocrisy, the "Hull City FC" error aside, those very points he used to rubbish the article apply to every single article about the name change since august/September time, or whenever it was Allam came out in the open and finally admitted his plan - the majority of those he praises, even though they don't report anything new, they're all informative rather than investigative, they're all generic rabble to fill pages and amount to the same thing that's been published 100 times over before in different wording. You couldn't make it up.

Hang on I posted something similar about a similarly poor article about a week ago and you gave me the same telling off then.

When have I praised articles that don't tell us anything new, like this one? I don't think I've praised any articles on the subject at all.

I think the media have an important role to play in this situation and it frustrates me that they're not getting the full truth out there and are instead going for the cosy, brief overview most of the time. These guys are professionals, they should be able to come up with more than just "Well it's against tradition to change the name, but he's put a lot of money in." With the twattish question "Would you rather be Hull Tigers in the PL or Hull City in the Championship?" thrown in for good measure. It's like one of those Soccer AM-style 'either or' daft questions "Would you rather have an extra arm or an extra leg?" It's just so stupidly hypothetical it's not worth asking in a serious context.

    Hey MelU

Not that my opinion means **** I know that.
But my opinion is your posts are great.

Quite a few people I come into contact with don't even realise Hull City are in the premier league even and that has honestly included people who work at castle hill....

    Crazy I know.

Keep posting Mel your open mind and debate is good ...

If AA gave PLT 20 quid he would call him a cnut for giving him 2 tenners instead of a 20.

He hates him that much .

    :)

Ps....loving this season Mel. Not missed a home game.....Brilliant.

The results will be announced at some point during this week.

Once Tom Courtenay has checked them.
