Pro changers have as much a point as the anti brigade. There is no right or wrong it's just opinion.
I watched it and your interpretation is strange. I thought he said that we should accept the name change and get behind the owner as the double signing shows the owners good intentions. He seems to have moved from his 'I'll speak to the owner' to he is now behind the owner. The futility of it all is sad. Bruce should have kept neutral.
Not sure if you are referring to my comments or the BBC article, but if its the former I'd appreciate some specifics on the non substantiated, over reactive, hypothetical drivel so I can know what exactly you are referring to so I can respond.
Well said T1. I've expressed the same view almost word for word several times in the past but instead of reasoned argument just got a load of name calling and insults questioning my age and purported senility. I've been watching the team for 65 years and have never supported any other. As the excellent and balanced BBC article correctly reports
"Founded as Hull City Association Football Club in 1904, they have been known as "the Tigers" for most of their history, with the nickname a reference to the amber and black kit."
I've never known them as anything but "the Tigers". Those people who rabbit on about our "history" and our "tradition" don't have a clue what they are talking about. From their comments most seem to have started following the team in the 1990s. Wtf do they know about history and tradition. I never heard anyone say they were going to watch "Hull City" 60 years agoi...it was always "The Tigers".
If Mr.Allam walks will these "City Till I Die" folks be happy supporting a penniless club with crap players in Division 2.? Because that's where we will be heading. And the 4000 or so left supporting the club on match days will rue the day they drove out the only Chairman besides Harold Needler who has been willing to put the money in to get us players of the quality of Huddlestone, Davies, McGregor, Jelavic, and hopefully Long.
Take a deep breath you CTID folks. You may be killing the golden goose and ruining the future of the club...for what? One word and a poor understanding of the clubs history and tradition?
You can't just assume that because you always referred to the club as the Tigers that that's what everyone else did. I've been going nearly 50 years and always refer to us as City, as have my friends. Anyway, we are already called the Tigers, so if he wants to use that for marketing why doesn't he use it? Unless or until there is ANY evidence of an increase in revenue from a name change he will never get the support that his actions otherwise deserve. Answer honestly, do you believe that a name change will result in more or less revenue to the club?
In the 40's and 50's which was the period I was referring to since that was when I was going to most of the home games before I emigrated everyone I knew referred to the club as the Tigers.
There's no question in my mind that the name change could increase revenues in the Far East, Middle East, and Africa if marketed properly. I've done a fair amount of business and traveling in Asia over the past 40 years and the "Tiger" is a potent symbol in much of that region. The name recognition compared to "Hull City" could bring in a significant amount of new support and interest in Japan, China, and Thailand in particular. I think that's what Mr.Allam has in mind rather than any dramatic increase in revenues.

" just got a load of name calling and insults" Unsubstantiated, over reactive.
"As the excellent and balanced BBC article" Where was the balance. The ill reported, patronsing, inaccurate & at times insulting was by no means excellent. Over reactive.
"Those people who rabbit on about our "history" and our "tradition" don't have a clue what they are talking about." Unsubstantiated, over reactive.
"If Mr.Allam walks will these "City Till I Die" folks be happy supporting a penniless club with crap players in Division 2.?" Unsubstantiated, over reactive, hypothetical.
"Because that's where we will be heading." Unsubstantiated, over reactive, hypothetical.

Unsubstantiated, over reactive, hypothetical. At least here you recognise that those you hypothetically suggest will drive AA away from the club are the ones who will remain to pick up the pieces & it'll be the PL whores who pass by the wayside. Harold Needler did not bring us in players of that quality. 1982 Administration - Needler family in charge. See where we're heading? AA bemoans the fact he cannot loan the club any more money, threatens to walk away if he can't get his own way, offers no reasonable explanation for the suggested name change & then loans the club a further £15m lumbering us with more debt. He will not walk away & leave without recouping his loans or having a payment plan in place from the new owners, he can't afford it. He may sell the club, that does not mean an immediate slide down the leagues. In fact only somebody who was spouting over reactive, innacurate, hypothetical & unsubstantiated drivel would imagine it would.
"You may be killing the golden goose and ruining the future of the club...for what?" Hypothetical, over reactive.
"One word and a poor understanding of the clubs history and tradition?" Inaccurate, over reactive. Patronising
Pretty much a load of clueless, Premier League chasing, non substantiated, over reactive, hypothetical drivel.
For the record we are The Tigers, the "The" is significant as it separates us from mere Tigers like Castleford & Leicester.
Hull City AFC, The Tigers. It means something to some people. I'd guess you see no pride in a name & maybe that's a reason you turned your back on your country & adopted another.

Well I think what you are referring to in my comments as "unsubstantiated" and "overreactive" is simply your way of saying you disagree with me. Fair enough. "Unsubstantiated" means contrary to the facts. Again its a matter of opinion. However I and others who have disagreed with the point of view of you and others on the name change have received plenty of insults and aspersions on their sanity. That is a fact. Just read some of the posts I received when the name change debate first started.
"I'd guess you see no pride in a name & maybe that's a reason you turned your back on your country & adopted another." Now you are getting into another area entirely. And its a comment I deeply resent. I could say a lot more but I'll bite my tongue for now.
It's my opinion that Jimmy Saville would make a good babysitter.
Obviously, some opinions are more credible than others.
It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. Everyone argues the non-existent benefits of the name change; a bandwagoner sports marketing opportunist writes a poorly thought through and very shallow self-promoting piece of tosh. If, just if, there should be an increase of shirt sales in India and China (for instance), do people seriously believe the majority of those shirts will be genuine Hull Tigers merchandise?
I tried to get through on The Alan Brazil Show on Wednesday morning, as I was sick of him asking for Hull City supporters to come forward and his constant comments that he could not understand what was behind the name-change. I got through to a gatekeeper, to whom I explained that I would offer another view of the reason to the name-change - Allams attempt to buy the KC Stadium, the refusal by HCC and the subsequent buddy-fit by Allam. He told me he had received many similar calls but they were too problematic to air. Instead we had to suffer the moron that is Windass and one or two others who really should have said, either truth or nothing, and hung up.
The campaign against the honesty and integrity of Assem Allam must step up a couple of gears, he is turning heads through greed and ignorance; there is a canopy of deceit being built that the FA will be able to hide behind.
One of my mates keeps asking me what all the fuss is over the name change, he thinks its a great idea.
A family member says he doesn't mind as long as the club is safe.
I would accept Hull City and at a push Hull City Tigers.
It's bollocks to say that the above are wrong, they are just different opinions.
