Nothing to do with suiting me at all. Much of the recent issue didn't involve me so I could have made better use of my leisure time on a warm day. Instead I've answered the same points (splattered with abuse) no end of times about something that happened while I was out!!

As for your photos, you asked for it to be deleted, it was. How easy was that compared to abuse and threats?

Now move on.

i have moved on! read my last post. on another note, the person that called my family member a **** kiddie fiddler did you Ban him?

Never said you are and the answer is yes; but you did complain of mod-bashing and you did say the solution was for folk to **** off, did you not? Not good at solutions or reading posts, it would seem.

If someone's main reason for coming on here is to be offended and complain about being offended, do you not agree that it's probably better if they don't bother coming on?

As someone who has modded this board for most of the time it's been going, I have a far better understanding of what a thankless task being a moderator is, compared to most on here.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and different people have different ideas about how this site should be managed. For a couple of years, we've had a no religion, no politics rule and that was it, individual posts that were racist or threatening, or in some other way inappropriate were deleted, but other than that moderation has been very light.

It's worked very well until this point and I think the problem lies with those that don't agree with the policy on moderation here, not with those who administer that moderation. So I stand by my previous suggestion, that they should perhaps find another forum more suited to their moral stance.

The last part of your post was patronising and disappointing in equal measure.

OLM, do you also think though that people who come onto this forum purposefully to offend and try to get people to complain about their posts should bugger off too seeing as theres far more suitable forums for them to post that type of stuff?

The reason the rules we have worked before is because the users abided by them more or less, and if they didn't, you gave them a gentle kick in the knackers. Now, people seem able to post whatever religious, racist, sick crap they want to, with no fear of any consequences, and that's why we saw what we did over the last 2 days.

So i guessing your post was offensive and that's why DMD deleted it? And if you dont like people coming on and complaining then you might not bother coming on! So it worked very well to the point were ****ing kids was funny? till people complained. they thought it was sick? Do you think that you or the mods stick by this policy?

Is this not just a simple case of, do as i say not do as i do and if you dont like it we will discredit you!

Sorry trying to type fast and my grammar is ****, you think after all these years i wouldn't have to look at the keyboard as i typed<doh>

Took forever to find that fooking icon

It's true that it's a two way street and some do post on here with the intention of getting a rise out of others, which is equally unhelpful(though I certainly don't think that was the case with joke thread).

I generally had an advantage over the other mods on here, as between my day at the office and the iPad in front of the telly on a night, I'm on and off here all the time, but others don't have that luxury.

If I saw a thread that I thought was inappropriate, I'd delete it immediately and PM the poster with my reason for pulling it, so it was gone before most had even seen it. But once a thread is up and running and posters have contributed, deleting it is a far bigger issue, as it upsets far more people.

The mods can't be on here 24 hours a day and even with the amount of time I'm on here, I was still out last night and would have missed things kicking off, hence my suggestions that the mods should be cut some slack.

This is just getting silly and embarrassing now- we're just going round in circles, repeating the same old accusations and explanations.

I don't think ****ing kids is funny and I find the suggestion far more offensive than anything I saw on the first couple of pages of the joke thread.

But PLT was on and even posted on the thread and DMD came on too and admitted he come on , But does claim to not read the thread but closed the thread reading some found it "OK" and then reopened it. So carnt see the cutting of slack regarding that thread? But fully understand mods carn't be here all the time.

Listern OLM people found this Offensive and complained, we can do the dance all night, You and the mods thought the thread was ok, Hence why it stayed open, Times are changing and people dont find these sick jokes funny! Now if you dont like the change the go back on CI and there you can talk about your status in life and how you like things run, i think that's fair enough Or would you like me as you say, "**** of you moaning ****"

And one more thing how many times do you have to mention this fooking i pad we all get it, YOU have a fooking i PAD, jesus

But is the icon hiding my real feeling <whistle>

My worry is this:-

I'm not sure that the solution to racism etc is a ban on talking about it. Sometimes I think we all need to hear these jokes in order to dislike them. Simply shouting them down doesn't, in my view, work.

So, no, I wouldn't ban the joke tellers or even shut the thread. Just because I read them, just because sometimes I even laugh at them, doesn't mean I condone the sentiment. Comedy has always been at the cutting edge of progress. It is only by making jokes about these things and getting them in the open that we can control and eradicate them.

Hiding the ideas away, banning them, or pretending they don't exist doesn't work. The joke teller is not condoning, he is not advocating, he is drawing attention to. Telling a racist joke does not make you a racist, any more than, it seems, joining the priesthood makes you Godly.

There is a history of trying to destroy stories we don't agree with. In my experience the people calling for the ban are usually worse than the story tellers.

A famous man once said:-
"No to decadence and moral corruption!" “Yes to decency and morality in family and state! I consign to the flames the writings of Heinrich Mann, Ernst Gläser, Erich Kästner.” "The era of extreme Jewish intellectualism is now at an end. The breakthrough of the German revolution has again cleared the way on the German path...The future German man will not just be a man of books, but a man of character. It is to this end that we want to educate you. As a young person, to already have the courage to face the pitiless glare, to overcome the fear of death, and to regain respect for death - this is the task of this young generation. And thus you do well in this midnight hour to commit to the flames the evil spirit of the past. This is a strong, great and symbolic deed - a deed which should document the following for the world to know - Here the intellectual foundation of the November Republic is sinking to the ground, but from this wreckage the phoenix of a new spirit will triumphantly rise."

With that he threw a book on a fire.

That man?

— Joseph Goebbels.

Beware of becoming too rabid a censor.

Or too boring.

Maybe some of these arguing folk could sort out their differences via PM?

And here in lies the problem. I'm sorry but do you think me and the others posted those jokes with the intention of you and the other softies coming to read them, so as to offend you?

No. I'm not that sad, I have far better things to spend my time in than be immature trying to get a rise out of random people I have and will never meet.

It was a thread for people who enjoy shocking humour to share it between us.

You do actually believe we posted it as a trap for you to come and get offended by dont you.
