So loads of people have iPads and me mentioning having one is no big deal, I'm glad we got that one sorted.

I've got a sandwich toaster too, I'm flash as ****.

I have just returned to the board and there too much to respond to quickly (a thing that can lead to regret), but I take your last line on board and regret you feel that way, but that is how you have come across. Some say that they can't be arsed to read all of the posts, but then take centre stage in judgment - how does that work on a written forum, where the written word and how it is used is all folk have to go on. It is more concerning when those who do this and then argue some sort of standard, are the board's moderators; some at least. You are not a moderator but your posts and discussions do blur that line at times. I will come back to this as I believe it is important to, not only this board, but to posters in general; me in particular.

This metrosexual posturing is unnerving me. It's a slippery slope to hair straighteners from here.

I have to deal with people and sometimes it gets a bit tough. I have lost count of the number of times I have been assaulted, but I have been run over a few times, stabbed, poisoned, punched, kicked and had my vehicles driven into. The worst was getting locked in at a quiche factory for three hours, I was on a diet at the time! Actually I did have to go to hospital after that one, someone thought that my back needed a stainless steel plate lodging in it.
To be honest my visit is often the start of someone being able to actually sort thing out. I work with people to find a solution and once I can calm the situation down I generally sort things out for the best. The last job I had in Hull was to recover the employment tribunal awards for the staff of a restaurant. Oddly it used to hold stand up comedy nights as well, I wonder if all of the comics got paid?

This is not about the moderators, not for me anyway. I am not interested in individual arguments, as this is an anonymous board and such things are futile, if not ridiculous. I absolutely understand the difficulties of moderating a board such as this and I have nothing but respect for Dutch, PLT and Ricardo; I have to add that OLM runs shotgun and I understand why. I do not wish this to be personal and if that has come across then I have failed in one of my own standards. I hope I did not. I do intend to send some PMs to address my doubt.

Moderation is a hard enough role to take on (thank god someone will) but, perhaps, it would be prudent to not get involved when you have been out, or you do not have the time to do it properly – let it run and then pick the bones out of it; it saves you a lot of hassle and folk will run out of steam. If you then come back with a concise, well thought through and fair response, you will get the support of any right minded NOT606 Hull City member; certainly me. You will also be clearer in your message of moderation. Many a good man has been scuttled because he chose to fight at the wrong time.

The subject matter of some (not all) of those jokes was abhorrent, to me anyway. Simply reading back on previous posts, over the years, would leave no-one in any doubt that the subject matter was inappropriate to this board – inappropriate to me full stop, but that’s my personal view. I read a lot of the 2011 joke thread and it did not come close, or, at least, it was not intended to go where this one went and this one was intended or destined to go exactly where it ended up. I agree that censorship can be damaging, but my point has always been that the experienced posters who posted this **** know the rules and so did the mods involved – there were posting it in the wrong place, this is a football board – it is that simple.

The OP apologised, but qualified it and that is absolutely fine by me (sounds a bit high-handed that, but not meant to be); on another, more appropriate board I would not have been arsed to complain (or whinge as it is known in moderation circles ;) ), but this is our Hull City forum and we are proud of it; much of the credit for that goes to mods, past and present.

We can all learn lessons from this; life isn’t perfect, neither are we. This is an excellent board and I have no intention of ****ing off without a fight to see it move forward from these two days. No real damage has been done; a few egos bruised, a few folks attention stretched, but we are learning about ground-rules and perhaps, if we do it with humility and tolerance we can show WYP what utter cretins they have been.

I apologise for the long-winded speech, but I feel strongly about the principle and I feel equally strongly about the quality of this board – there may be many Hull City boards, but this is a bit special.

For the record, I'm a softee, but I have a Soda Stream and that allows me to feel so much more superior to you lot than you could possibly imagine. I am prepared to help you on your journey with the loan of a George Foreman Grill! <whistle>
